Chikkamagaluru,
Karnataka, Jan 5: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday ruled
out banning of Peoples Front of India (PFI) as demanded by Bharatiya Janata
Party .
BJP had claimed that PFI was responsible for brutual murder of Deepak Rao at Suratkal in Mangaluru on January 3.
Speaking to newsmen at Mudagere before participating in Congress party's 'Sadana Samavesha', he said that "there is no move to ban PFI at present. There is need to ban all the organisations which indulge in creating communal tension be it PFI, Bajarang Dal or Pramod Mutalik led Sri Rama Sene."
"Whichever organisation that sow communal seeds and disturb harmony in the Society should be banned whether it is right or left wing organisation and affiliated to any political party or other organisation," he added.
Questioning the need of BJP leaders staging agitation against murder of Deepak Rao, Mr Siddaramaiah said "are we not Hindus'.
'Is only Deepak Rao a Hindu' he asked and questioned the need for BJP leaders indulging in provocation in the name of sympathy. ' We also condemn the murder and the Government has taken all steps to bring to book the culprits and help the family to overcome from the incident'.
He said that the State government has no power to ban any organisation. Only the Union government has the power and the State government after studying the functioning of such organisation will recommended to the Centre. UNI
