Srinagar, Feb 28: A fresh Western Disturbance (WD) is expected to hit the region on Thursday, which could result in rain and snow at many places in Kashmir valley, where day temperature has dipped despite sun playing hide and seek.
Meanwhile, the night temperature has further improved across the valley and settled several degrees above normal.
However, people continued to shiver in border town of Kargil, which was the coldest place in the region at minus 7 degree, followed by Leh, where night temperature dipped and settled at minus 5 degree.
A Met department spokesperson told UNI that weather will remain dry during the next 24 hours in the state.
However, he said a fresh WD, which originated from the Arabian Sea and approaching the region through Afghanistan and Pakistan, is expected to hit the region 
on Thursday. “Under the influence of the WD, rain and snow could occur at most of the places in the valley for two days from tomorrow,” he added.
The night temperature at Leh dipped about 4 degree from 
Tuesday and settled at minus 5 degree.
He said sky will be generally cloudy during the next 24 hours in Leh, where maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 10 degree and minus 1 degree, respectively.
After witnessing an improvement of a degree from 
Tuesday in the night temperature, people woke upto a sunnyWednesday morning in the summer capital, Srinagar. However, as the day progressed sun played hide and seek, resulting in dip in the maximum temperature.
Against 3.9 degree recorded 
on Tuesday, the night temperature in Srinagar was 4.9 degree, which is 3 degree above normal. On Tuesday, the maximum temperature recorded in the summer capital was over 7 degree above normal.
The spokesperson said there is possibility of rain or snow during the next 24 hours in Srinagar, where the maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 12 degree and 5 degree, respectively.
The world famous ski resort of Gulmarg, about 55 km from here in north Kashmir, also witnessed a marginal improvement in the night temperature. Against minus 1.5 degree recorded 
on Tuesday, the night temperature in the ski resort was minus 1 degree, which is about 5 degree above normal.
However, the night temperature dipped about 2 degree from 
Tuesday at world famous health resort of Pahalgam though it was still 4 degree above normal. Against 2.1 degree recorded on Tuesday, the night temperature in Pahalgam, about 100 km from here in south Kashmir, dipped and settled at 0.5 degree.
The mercury at Kupwara in north Kashmir and tourist resort of Kokernag improved and settled at 4.5 degree and 4.3 degree, respectively. UNI
