Srinagar, Feb 28: Scores of employees of Jammu and Kashmir wildlife department staged a protest in the summer capital, Srinagar, demanding hike in salaries and promotions.
Scores of protestors, under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Wildlife Employees and Workers Union, hit the streets at Partap Park in Srinagar.
Shouting anti-government slogans, the protestors demanded that promotions should be accorded to their seniority. They also demanded increase in the salaries, designation change among helpers and rehabilitation of casual labourers and senior labourers.
“We have been left high and dry by the present government. We demand hike in salaries for field workers of wildlife department and promotions according to their seniority. Is there anything wrong in our just demands,” the protestors said.
They said the government has assured them that their demands will be fulfilled in the past, but nothing has been done in this direction.
Threatening to intensify their protests if their demands were not fulfilled, they urged Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to intervene in the matter. “If our demands were not fulfilled, we will go organize daily sit-in protests,” they added. UNI
