Srinagar, Feb 28: A fresh weather warning has been issued in Kashmir valley, where moderate rain and snow is expected to occur at many areas from Thursday under the influence of a fresh Western Disturbance (WD).
A Met department spokesperson told UNI that a fresh WD, which originated from the Arabian Sea and is approaching the region though Afghanistan and Pakistan, will hit the state on Thursday morning.
He said the WD will remain active in the most likely from 
Thursday morning to Saturday afternoon.
Under the influence of this system, he said moderate rain and snow is expected at widespread places of Jammu region and Kashmir valley.
He said moderate snowfall is expected in Ladakh, mainly in Kargil district.
“Higher reaches of Kashmir and Jammu are most likely to receive moderate to heavy rain and snow,” he said.
He said Anantnag, Shopian, Kulgam, Pulwama in south Kashmir and Badgam districts will most likely receive heavy rain and snow.
This, he said may lead to disruption of surface transportation mainly, the national highway.
He said moderate rain or snow would occur during the next 24 hours in Srinagar, where maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 10 degree and 4 degree, respectively.
“Light rain and thundershowers would occur during the next 24 hours in Jammu, where maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 21 degree and 12 degree, respectively,” he said.
The spokesperson said that light snow could occur during the next 24 hours in Leh, where maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 4 degree and minus 3 degree, respectively. UNI
