Srinagar, Feb 28: The
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued a letter of award for
construction of 42.10 km ring road around Srinagar costing Rs 939.41 crore to
M/s Ramky Infrastructure Ltd.
The NHAI has issued Letter of Award for construction of the proposed Srinagar
Ring Road-Bypass from Galander, Pampore in south Kashmir to Crossing of Sumbal
Road in north Kashmir on the Jammu-Srinagar highway, a Press
Information Bureau (PIB) press release issued here Wednesday evening said.The Project would be implemented on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Mode with construction period of 36 months.
The entire green-field alignment has been proposed on the western side of Srinagar City to cater to/provide connectivity to the habitation on that side. It will also provide smooth and easy traffic flow in and around Srinagar City.
It said the vehicles carrying heavy machinery to border and strategic areas of Baramula, Uri, Kupwara, Bandipora and Gandarbal will have an easier, congestion free passage along this route. The Ring Road- Bypass will traverse through 52 villages and 5 Districts (Pulwama, Budgam, Baramula, Srinagar & Bandipora). The Ring Road- Bypass will also lead to substantial socio-economic growth of the area.
The release said that total length of the project is 42.10 km costing Rs 939.41 crore which was awarded to M/S Ramky Infrastructure Ltd. UNI
