16: Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu will arrive here on Friday on a
two-day visit to Kerala.
The Vice President will reach the Air Force technical area at 1045 hrs and later for Raj Bhavan where he will receive visitors.
Mr Naidu will deliver the Chithira Thirunal Memorial lecture at a function to be held at Kannakakunnu palace here at 1530 hrs.
Chithira Thirunal Bala Rama Varma was the last king of the princely state of Travancore. His regime witnessed many-sided progress. The promulgation of 'Temple Entry Proclamation in 1936, was an act that underlined social emancipation.
He made the revolutionary proclamation that opened the doors of temples in Travancore for all Hindu devotees, removing restrictions on Dalit entry to Hindu temples, irrespective of their caste and community.
After the programme at 1700 hrs, the Vice President will leave for the Airport and board the flight to Kozhikode at 1730 hrs. On Saturday, he will attend the silver jubilee celebrations of Farook College at A P Bava Convention Centre, Kozhikode, as the chief guest.
Later, he will attend a National seminar at Chinmayanjali Hall, Nellikode at 1130 hrs. After the seminar, he would leave for New Delhi from Kozhikode Airport at 1300 hrs. UNI
