JAMMU, Mar 8: ‘Meri Pehchan’, an exclusive club for women, launched by Sandhya Gupta, a leading personality of Jammu, today celebrated Women’s Day at Amar Singh Club here. It was attended by women from various fields.
Meenu Mahajan, Mrs. India Exquisite 2018 and a National award winner, was the Chief Guest who was welcomed and honoured by the Founder and Chief Patron, Women’s Club ‘Meri Pehchan’, Sandhya Gupta.
Highlighting the main motive behind the launching for club, Sandhya said “The Women Club ‘Meri Pehchaan’ was launched with the sole motive of encouraging the working women and bringing out their hidden talent as women are the real architects of the society.”
“Meri Pehchan believes that Women’s Day should be celebrated everyday and not just one day and also to empower the women,” she added.
“I will try to bring out hidden talent of the common women to give them an opportunity to cherish womanhood and feel elated”, she asserted.
The Chief Guest appreciated the endeavour and asked the women folk for working together towards standing tall against all odds.
She described women’s status as most revered and respectful in the society, saying that woman is a mother, a sister, a wife and a daughter and every relation is wonderful and makes the society most beautiful.
She said that it is important for the progress of nation that women are empowered and encouraged in every sphere of life.
She said that the motive of commemoration of this Women’s Day is to give respect and appreciation besides paying tribute to indomitable spirit of women for their social, economical, and political contribution.
She further said that women have a vital role to play in transforming society and time has come when there should be an awakening among women regarding their rights and contribution.
She appealed the masses that women should be respected and given their due place, respectability and honour.
She called upon the women folk to actively involve themselves in the matters related to community development and social upliftment.
The event then followed by honouring five women achievers of J&K, Sujata Anand (President of WOW, first ever women wing of Chamber of Commerce), Urja Singh (Chairperson of the Performers NGO and State President of J&K Betiya Foundation), Medha Arora (Miss Tourism Eva India, 2017), Arti Sharma Arora (Mrs. India Exquisite 2017 runners up ) and Dr. Rinku ( Director, Cynosure Prep School).
Sandhya Gupta said that the idea is to encourage and motivate each and every woman or girl to reach for her dreams and believe in them.
