Bengaluru, Mar 8: Members of Advocate Association on Thursday staged a protest at the City Civil Court complex over Wednesday’s brutal attack on Lokayukta Justice P Vishvanath Shetty, who is now undergoing treatment at a Private Hospital.
The agitators condemned the attack and urged the State government to ensure sufficient security at judicial workplaces.
Bengaluru Bar Association President Ranganath, addressing the agitators, said that the yesterday’s incident was highly condemnable and the State government has failed to take sufficient security measures at Lokayukta office which was set up to wage war against corruption.
Justice Shetty was stabbed five times with a knife by a person in his Chamber and he was immediately arrested by the Police and the victim was rushed to the Hospital.
The accused Tejraj Sharma was remanded to Judicial custody for five days after he was produced before a Magistrate after arrest. CCB Police have filed FIR under various sections alleging an attempt to murder and disturbing government servant while discharging his duties.
Dr Diwakar, attending Doctor at Mallya Hospital where Justice Shetty was admitted, said that “Justice Shetty is recovering and have been kept in ICU for observation”. UNI
