JAMMU, MARCH 27: To make her familiar with the welfare schemes of the government at the Centre and in the state aimed at Socio-Economic upliftment of the unemployed people of reserved categories, Central Waqf Council, National Chairperson, Dr. Drakhshan Andrabi, was given a presentation by Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes & Backward Classes Development Corporation, Vice Chairperson, Balbir Ram Rattan, wherein he briefed her about the objective of such schemes and the required process to be followed to avail their benefits.
Dr. Drakhshan Andrabi, who paid a visit to the Head Office of the Corporation, held one to one meeting with the Vice Chairperson and had lengthy discussions regarding structure & functioning of the organisation.
Dr. Andrabi was also given a presentation by Balbir Ram Rattan, who minutely briefed her about schemes meant for different categories like Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, National Level Notified Minorities, Physically Disabled persons and those belonging to the Safai Karamchari community.
‘As the unemployment is on the rise and government cannot provide jobs to all, measures to provide means of earning livelihood to the unemployed youth, various welfare schemes for the weaker sections of the society have been launched’ Balbir told Dr. Andrabi and added that in this regard the Corporation provides financial assistance in the form of loan at reasonable interest rates, thereby providing the conducive environment to set up own earning units.
Dr. Drakhshan Andrabi was also briefed about the milestones already achieved by the Corporation in offering support to various individuals under different welfare schemes.
