New Delhi, Mar 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said his government is taking all
necessary steps to help farmers achieve higher milestones and ensure that
welfare measures for farmers like insurance coverage are also augmented.
Addressing farmers at the annual Krishi Unnati Mela here, Mr
Modi referred to measures being taken to distribute Soil Health Cards and also schemes like Sichai
Yozana and Fasal Yozana.
Prime Minister blasted at those who he said are trying to spread an atmosphere of "negativity and hopelessness".He said government is working in coordination with states to address issues related to Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the farmers.
He said the Operation Greens announced in Budget 2018-19 is aimed to address the issues relevant for improving supply chain.
"This measure will help those farmers who work in the fields for producing tomato, onion, potato and other fruits and vegetables," he said.
He said the Budget 2018-19 also has tried to improve marketing facilities like Gramin Haat with modern facilities so that farmers need not go to far off places for marketing or selling their products. UNI
