Agartala, Mar 17: The CPI-M state committee has condemned the attack on two expecting mothers and
demanded stern action against the attackers.
The CPI-M, in a release, alleged that two pregnant women-
Sarmani Gour and Chokamani Gour, residents of Nagbanshi village under
Kuchainala Panchayet in Kamalpur sub-division of Dhalai district were severely
assaulted by the ruling party activists on March 7 last.
The two women sustained severe injuries after the miscreants ‘kicked’ them in their lower abdomen. It was then they were rushed to Kamalpur hospital where they delivered ‘stillborn’ babies.”
Strongly condemning the incident, CPI-M state committee has demanded compensation for the treatment of the two women. The party also sought immediate intervention of National Human Rights Commission, State and National Commission for Women into the incidents.
“The BJP came in power with the promise of good governance, safety and security of women. In 25 yrs rule of left front in Tripura hardly any such brutal incident was reported. Even if sporadic incidents surfaced, immediate action was taken but even after a week no action is initiated against the criminals, which shows the face of BJP,” said CPI-M state secretary Bijan Dhar.
