In the backdrop of violence in valley that left five civilians dead in security force action after 13 militants were killed in three separate encounters in south Kashmir since Sunday, Ms Mehbooba reviewed the overall situation in Kashmir during a high-level meeting of officers here today. Three Army jawans were also martyred in one of the encounters.
Ms Mehbooba also directed the hospital authorities to ensure specialized treatment of the injured so that they are able to restart their lives again.
“Officers dealing with security situation should ensure that collateral damage is avoided and all the SoPs in this regard are strictly adhered to,” she said.
Ms Mehbooba also enquired about the injured admitted in various Hospitals like Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar, S K Institure of Medical Sciences (SKIMS). She directed the Hospital authorities to ensure specialized treatment of the injured so that they are able to restart their lives again.
Earlier in the meeting, senior civil and Police officers briefed the Chief Minister about the overall situation in Kashmir Valley, particularly after the incidents of violence in Shopian district two days ago.
Four civilians died in security force action and 13 militants and three Army jawans were killed in three separate encounters in south Kashmir on Sunday. Over 50 civilians were also injured in the clashes near the encounter sites. One more civilian, who was injured at Kangan in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal, succumbed to his injured at SKIMS on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, normal life remained crippled for the second successive day on Tuesday as shops and business establishments were closed and traffic was off the roads due to a strike called by separatists and restrictions imposed by authorities in Kashmir valley.
Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik, on Monday extended the strike till Tuesday against the killings. UNI
