Skill Development under Himayat
Urges students to equip
themselves with skills to earn good livelihood
JAMMU, APRIL 04: Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law
and Justice Abdul Haq today visited various training
centres to get first hand appraisal of the facilities and training being
provided to the youth of the state under Himayat Scheme.
The Minister visited Teamlease
Services Limited, a Project Implementation Agency imparting training to the
youth of the state in various job-oriented skills including Electricals and
Information Technology. 287 youths from various
districts of Jammu province are undergoing training in the centre including 113
females.
The Minister was
accompanied by Additional Mission Director JKSRLM Kapil Sharma, Project Head
Teamlease Services Limited, Mukhtar Nabi and other senior officials of the
department.
Abdul Haq visited the
lecture rooms, laboratories, Computer labs and online monitoring systems
installed in the training centre. The Minister also inspected the boarding and
other facilities being provided by the PIA to the students.
Most of the students of
undergoing batch hail from very far of places of Jammu division including
Kishtwar, Padder, Doda and other hilly areas.
While interacting with the
Minister, the students expressed satisfaction over the facilities being
provided to by the trainers and the teaching staff of the Teamlease Services.
The Minister urged the
students to work hard to get trained well in their
respective trades so that they can prove their mettle
in market and get jobs easily to earn their livelihood.
Addressing the students,
Abdul Haq said Himayat is a skill development cum placement programme for
unemployed youth in J&K under the umbrella of DeenDayal Upadhyaya
GraminKoushalaya Yojana (DDU-GKY), Union Ministry of Rural Development with
focus on sustainable employment for rural poor youth. He said JKSRLM has been
entrusted with the responsibility of training and placing over 1.24 lakh youth
with an allocation of Rs 1601.51 crore for a period of 3 years.
The Minister said Chief
Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has launched the remodelled Himayat scheme last year with an aim to train the unemployed youth in
different sectors so that they get employment at the earliest.
