KARGIL, APRIL 05: Executive Councilor for Youth Services and Sports
Advocate Muhammad Amir today said that a proper blend between sports and
studies is a must for the youth to develop as successful citizens of tomorrow.
The EC stated this while addressing players during
the inaugural function of the Inter-Zonal District Level Mega Football
Tournament for Boys and Girls. The tournament was held under ‘Let’s
Play’ co-branded with ‘Khelo
India’ for Under-12, Under-16 and Under-19 age categories
at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium Kargil.
“A
sound mind can rest in a sound body and for a sound body physical activity are
most important,” Amir said, adding sports are centred with human
values of patience, cooperation and team spirit.
He also appreciated the efforts made by Youth
Services and Sports Department Kargil for conducting such a mega event in the
district.
Around 480 boys and girls from different zones of
the district including Kargil, Sankoo, Shakar-Chiktan and Shargole are
participating in the football tournament.
Meanwhile, during the final match of the Under-12
Boys played today, Kargil Zone clinched the trophy by defeating Tai Suru Zone
by 3 goals while as Sankoo lost to Kargil by 2 goals in the finals of Boys
Under-16 category.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kargil
Aga Syed Toha, Zonal Physical Education Officers, coaches and the staff of
Youth Services & Sports Department Kargil were present on the occasion.
