UDHAMPUR, APRIL, 04:- Arrangements for 3-day historic Baisakhi Mela
commencing from 13 April 2018 at
sacred Devika Ghat, Udhampur were discussed at a meeting of District Officers
of various departments here today under the chairmanship of District
Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Ravinder Kumar.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner
Revenue, Subash Dogra, Chief Planning Officer, Ashok Khajuria, Chief Executive
Officer Muncipality, Santosh Kotwal, DFO Territorial, Jugal Gupta,District
Youth Services & Sports Officer, Udhampur Sudesh Kumar, Dy SP HQ, Kameshwar
Puri, Mela Officer, Mehboob Iqbal and other district officers of different
departments besides prominent citizen were present in the meeting.
Threadbare discussions were held on various
arrangements related to security; safe drinking water, power supply;
barricading, First-aid, sanitation, checking of rates etc. and directions were
issued to district heads of various departments to ensure fool-proof
arrangements pertaining to their respective department well before the start of
the mela. To check the rates and quality of eatables, a team was constituted to
ensure that no shopkeeper sells sub-standard eatables during the mela days at
Devika ghat.
It was decided in the meeting that Executive
Engineer PHE would ensure drinking water arrangements while Executive Officer
Municipality for ensuring proper cleansing of the site besides First Aid Camp
by Health Department. Executive Engineer, PDD would ensure uninterrupted power
supply during the Mela days. Likewise, police department would ensure adequate
security arrangements at mela site. Other issues related to cultural programmes
, install Devika
project and SBM during
the mela , Ban on polythene bags, set up red cross donation box in the mela site and deployment
of fire tender were also discussed in the meeting.
While addressing the meeting, the DDC directed all
the district officers to work in coordination with each other for finalizing
necessary arrangements adding that all the necessary arrangements must be put
in place well before the commencement of the Mela.
Besides, he asked the officers to install different departmental stalls for
generating awareness among the people regarding the various Government schemes.
Tehsildar Udhampur has been appointed as the Mela officer.
The Deputy Commissioner called upon the officers
for putting in their dedicated and coordinated efforts in making arrangements
pertaining to their respective departments.
