Bengaluru, Apr 9: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the main rival for the ruling Congress in
Karnataka, will release its second list of candidates for the May 12 Assembly
elections in a couple of days.
Disclosing this to newsmen before embarking on ‘Campaign on
Autorickshaw’ in the city on Monday, Party State President B S Yeddyurappa told
newsmen on Monday that “the Selection Committee which met at Delhi yesterday
has released first list of 72 candidates and within next two days I will
release list of about 65 to 70 candidates.”
Mr Yeddyurappa said that Chief Minister is in a dilemma as he is afraid that he may lose the battle if he contests from Chamundeshwari as announced by him and hence he is trying to change the constituency stating that there is pressure from the people. “But the fact is that not only he, but also his son Mr Yatindra, who is proposed for his old seat Varuna constituency may also lose and hence he is in search of safe constituency..” he added.
The BJP Chief Ministerial candidate launched his ‘Autorickshaw Campaign’ from his residence at Dollars colony to Jasma Bhavan where he will have interaction with Auto Drivers and listen to their problems.
Other leaders including Lok Sabha members Shobha Kharandlaje, P C Mohan, former Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, among others, were with Mr Yeddyurappa in the campaign.
Daily commuters were put to hardship, especially office goers, as more than 100 autorickshaws were parked in front of Mr Yeddyurappa’s house for the campaign and refusing to take passengers to their destinations. UNI
