BARAMULLA,
APRIL 6: District Development Commissioner
(DDC) Baramulla Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash today chaired a meeting to review the
progress of centrally sponsored Swach Bharat Mission (SBM).
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy
Commissioner, Farooq Ahmad Baba District Panchayat Officer, BDOs and various
other concerned.
On the occasion, the DDC took a thorough review of
the implementation of the scheme. He was informed that about 65 percent works
under the SBM have been achieved. It was said that the scheme aims at achieving
complete open defecation free (ODF) status for the district by the
end of next year.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC highlighted the
significance of the mission and said various public toilets are being built to
put a check on the menace of open defecation.
Meanwhile, the DDC emphasized upon
increasing of awareness among masses regarding the benefits of sanitation,
besides highlighting the objectives of the scheme.
