Stresses on adopting Shopian Model
POONCH, APRIL 05: District Development Commissioner Poonch,
Mohammed Aijaz Assad today convened a meeting to review the progress
made under centrally sponsored scheme 'Swatch Bharat Mission (Grameen).
The meeting was attended by ADDC Abdul Hamid,
Chief Planning Officer Seva Ram Bhagat, DPO
Mukhlis Ahamad Quarishi, BDOs, AEEs of Rural Engineering
Wing (REW), VLWs, JEs and GRSs.
Threadbare discussions were held
regarding implementation, progress made in IHHLs and other campaigns
initiated by Rural Development Department for educating the people
about harmful effects of open defecation.
During the meeting, DDC took a detailed review
of all 189 panchyats falling under 11 blocks. VLWs and GRSs, who have
not achieved 25% target of constructing IHHLs units till date, were
asked to improve their performance.
On the occasion, DDC called for persistent
information, education and communication activities to spread awareness among
all stakeholders along with carrying out door to door campaign for
motivating people to develop habit of using toilets.
DDC said that October 2, has been
set as a deadline to make the country as well as all states ODF. He
directed DPO to construct the toilets for households that have been left in the
baseline survey 2012 under MGNREGA. He also stressed for regular
up-dation of data on MIS, geo-tagging and related data on SBM portal.
Further, discussions were also held to set
targets panchayat wise in each of the 11 blocks with special focus on
34 panchyats from all blocks setting for open defection free
by April, 30. The DDC further asked the concerned to
make concerted efforts in constructing IHHL units in
panchyats located near LOC.
He stressed on adopting Shopian model of
constructing IHHLs where 15000 IHHLs units were constructed in record time of
20days.
DDC asked the concerned to mobilize all
available resources including Swachhdoots on the pattern of
Shopian district for sensitizing and ensuring maximum participation
of stakeholders to achieve absolute target.
Earlier, DPO and concerned BDOs apprised the DDC
about the progress registered in construction of IHHLs, their verification and
geo-tagging.
