Agartala, April 4: Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on his second visit in New Delhi in a month
after assuming office, yesterday met as many as seven central ministers and
received assurance of sanction of at least 10 projects related to
infrastructure development which have been pending for a long time.
Besides, receiving assurance for the clearance
and funding of the pending projects, chief minister also got assurance from
Union Minster for Electronics and Information Technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad
for development of the IT sector in the state, considering the huge potential
in Tripura.
Chief minister said that union minister has announced introduction of three BPO Hubs in Tripura to promote BPO services. He, however, proposed the chief minister to open and activate common Service Centres at all the Gram Panchayats of the state by setting up Wi-Fi hubs at convenient locations to enable people to harness the full benefit of digital India imitative.
He said Union minister Prasad also favoured rolling out of more and more digital services through Common Service Centers, which would help transparency in the governance and speed up the administration.
Deb said Union minister ensured all the support for E-hospital initiative to start E-hospital projects in all the District Hospitals in the state on urgent basis, Digital Locker, Promotion of Umang Project. Also, he assured support to the State Data Center and SWAN project of Tripura.
“I am advised to take up digital literacy drive in Tripura on massive scale so as to achieve the target and assured of full support and cooperation to develop the existing Software Technology Park . I am also assured of support for opening a third Software Technology Park in Tripura, provided State Government sanctions the land,” Deb said.
In a separate meeting Industries and Commerce Minister, Suresh Prabhu assured the chief minister of necessary action for making of all the North-eastern states as trading houses for bamboo handicrafts and bamboo furniture to boost up their economy.
The Union minister assured to send a Multi-Disciplinary Team from the Ministry to study the feasibility of development of Industry and Commerce in Tripura shortly, while requesting the Chief Minister to concentrate on the skill Development and service sector.
Besides, extension of train service to Delhi and other destinations from Agartala, union minister for Railway Piyush Kumar Goyal has accorded the approval for survey of alternate railway line linking Dharmanagar to Belonia via Kailashahar, Kamalpur, Khowai Mohanpur and Agartala.
Union minister for Health & Family Welfare ,J P Nadda assured the chief minister to consider the demand of setting up of All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) like healthcare institution in Tripura.
During meeting with Union minister of state for Tourism, Alphons assured to get the DPR prepared under PRASAD scheme for development of Matabari Temple complex like Kamakhya temple of Guwahati. He also requested the chief minister for submission of second DPR of Rs 102.50 Cr under the SWADESH Scheme for necessary approval.
Deb had a detailed discussion on Indo-Bangladesh trade and related issues with Union External Affairs Minister Susma Swaraj. She said that there would a conference of all the chief ministers of North East on May 4 next in New Delhi in which all the issues related to Tripura would also be discussed.
Union Road Transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari agreed to take necessary action to convert the present two-lane National Highway, from Agartala up to Matabari, to four lanes and also assured to have sanction accorded for preparation of DPR of five pending projects of National Highways.
He directed Water and Power Consultancy Services to undertake DPR preparation for two Dams in Baramura on the upstream of Howrah River, so that the recurring flood menace might be mitigated and drinking water requirements were met, besides generating power and providing irrigation to nearby areas.
Gadkari also instructed the Inland Water Ways Authority of India under Ministry of Shipping to revise DPR and undertake development of two waterways on river Gomati and river Howrah. UNI
