Lucknow, Apr 10: Unnao gangrape accused Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar is
likely to be arrested by Special Investigation Team of the Uttar Pradesh police
very soon.
After the arrest of Atul Sengar, his brother, now the state
police, which is under pressure, could take the legislator in custody, a senior
police official told UNI here on Tuesday.
State Additional Director General of Police(Law and Order) Anand Kumar told reporters that a high-level probe has been ordered to investigate into the charges made by the gangrape victim against the legislator.
"We have already set up a Special Investigation team(SIT) under my leadership, which had started its investigation in the case," Mr Kumar said.
The main work of the SIT will be to investigate the matter and to probe whether police worked under any influence.
He admitted that on April 3, the father of the rape victim was beaten up and he died on Monday morning. The brother of the legislator was found involved in the beating of the deceased and the arrest was made on the basis of the post-mortem report. The SIT will also probe the criminal record of Atul Senger.
He added that Surendra Singh alias Pappu's post-mortem report says that his death occurred due to shock and other medical complications.
"Cause of death shock & septicemia due to peritonitis & ascending colon perforation," the ADG disclosed.
He also sustained 14 injuries says his medical report before going to jail.
However, the ADG said the victim had not taken the name of the legislator during his statement recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC on June 11, 2017 but later on she took the name of the legislator and his brother in a separate complaint on June 22, 2017.
Earlier on the directive of state Director General of Police O P Singh, the SIT arrested Atul, the accused's brother.
The arrest was made by the SIT team of Lucknow crime branch led by SP crime Dinesh Singh from district Unnao under Section 147, 323, 504, 304 of the IPC.
The DGP also confirmed that there are evidence against Atul and his arrest was required in the case.
On the other hand ADG(Law and Order) Anand Kumar said the SIT has been formed to probe all allegations related to Unnao matter.
"Investigation is being done and action will definitely be taken," the ADG said.
However, chief medical officer of Unnao S P Choudhury said that when the patient (Pappu) was brought at the district hospital his intestine had been damaged and hence he contacted an infection, as a result he went into shock and later passed away. UNI
