JAMMU, APRIL 4: Vice Chairman, State Advisory Board for Welfare
& Development of the OBCs, Rashpaul
Verma today chaired a meeting with newly nominated members of the board to
discuss issues relating to the welfare and development of OBCs in the state.
During the meeting, the members discussed various
issues including reservation for OBCs of J&K as per Mandal Commission
Recommendations, renaming of OSCs certificate into OBCs certificate in line
with Central Government, abolition of creamy layer from OBCs on the pattern of
SC/ST and if not then raising income criteria from 4.5 lakh to 8.0 lakh under
creamy layer for issuance of OBCs certificate, enhancing the ceiling limit of
scholarship for OBCs on the pattern of SC/ST, political reservation for OBCs in
Panchayat/Municipalities and State Legislative Assembly and nomination of three
MLCs of OBCs out of 8 MLCs to be nominated by the Governor under J&K
Constitution, construction of Hostel for students of OBC community in every
District, a provision of CDF for development of OBCs under J&K State
Advisory Board for the Welfare and Development of Other Backward Classes.
