POONCH, MAY 19: The Assistant
Labour Commissioner, Labour Department Poonch Zamood Ahmad today stressed upon
the labourers to register themselves with Buildings and Other Construction
Workers Welfare Board (BOCWWB) to avail benefits entailed under various schemes
of the department for them.
He was speaking
at a largely attended camp organised at Dharana, an LOC Village of Subdivision
Mendhar, to create awareness about various labour laws.
The camp was
organised in the backdrop of commitment made by the District Development
Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad during public outreach programme at Dharana.
During the camp,
information was disseminated about labour laws including Factories Act, Minimum
Wage Act, Equal Renumeration Act, Child Labour Prohibition and Regulation Act,
Trade Union Act, Industrial Employment Act, Employees Compensation Act, Contract
Labour Regulation and Abolition Act and Maternity Benefit Act.
The participants were called upon to register their grievances with
labour department for timely resolution. They were also exhorted upon to enroll
their wards in schools as children have fundamental right to education.
