New Delhi, May 14 : Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday underwent a successful kidney transplant at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences here.
Releasing a statement, the institute said both, the Minister and the donor, were stable and recovering well.
"Mr Arun Jaitley, the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, underwent renal translate surgery today at AIIMS, Delhi. The surgery has been successful. Both the recipient and donor are stable and recovering well," the AIIMS release said.
Earlier on April 5, Mr Jaitley had tweeted about being treated for kidney related problems.
"I am being treated for kidney related problems & certain infections that I have contracted. I am therefore currently working from controlled environment at home. The future course of my treatment would be determined by the doctors treating me".
Due to the ailment, the Finance Minister was working from controlled environment at home and has been undergoing dialysis for the past one month.
Mr Jaitley took oath as the Rajya Sabha Member representing Uttar Pradesh on April 15. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had also undergone kidney transplant in December 2016 at the AIIMS.UNI
