Calls for prompt, timely measures
KARGIL,
JUNE 30: In order to assess the situation arisen due to incessant
rainfall in the state including Kargil district over the past few days and for
putting in place precautionary measures to deal with any disaster situation,
Deputy Commissioner, LAHDC Kargil Vikas Kundal who is also the Chairman of the
District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Kargil today convened a meeting
with the concerned officers here today.
During
the course of the meeting, the DC impressed upon all the concerned to remain in
the state of alertness besides keeping their men and machinery in full
readiness to handle any disaster situation due to incessant rainfall in the
district.
It was
informed in the meeting that a Flood Control Room has been established at DC
Office Kargil with number 01985-232263, where the officials from I&FC,
R&B, MC, PDD, PHE, Health, FCS&CA have been deputed to in order to keep
round the clock vigil of the situation.
The DC
directed the ARTO Kargil to arrange required numbers of buses and taxis at all
Sub-Divisions of the district to ensure emergency transportation facilities if
required.
The CMO
was asked to constitute Rapid Response Team at the District Hospital besides
keeping the availability of medicines and other medicare facilities in
sufficient quantity.
The Executive
Engineer, PDD apprised the meeting that 10 transformers with different
capacities are available with the department. He also informed that the PDD is
also in touch with the NHPC for meeting any requirement.
It
was revealed that a meeting with the Patwaris has already been convened to keep
the revenue staff vigilant. The DC directed the Tehsildar concerned to instruct
the field staff to remain present at their respective destinations so as to
keep the administration well posted about the ground situation.
Taking
stock of the availability of essential commodities in the district, the DC
stressed on the authorities FCS&CA to ensure the availability of sufficient
food stock in case of the closure of Zojila pass.
The
DC also directed the concerned officers to prepare Departmental Action Plans to
deal with disaster situations and complete the temporary restoration of roads,
buildings, schools within the district in due course of time.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Director Information was directed to
deal with social media rumor mongering.
