SRINAGAR, JUNE
13: The State level Naat Competition which commenced
from day one of Holy month of Ramadhan, concluded here in the Auditorium of
Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR).
The competition
was organized by the Private Schools Association.
As many as 850
students drawn from 10 districts of Kashmir and 5 districts of Jammu
participated in the competition during the month long event. Out of
850 students, 45 students qualified for final competition held today.
Justice
(R) Hakim Imitiyaz Hussain was the chief guest, while as Director
Information and Public Relations Tariq Ahmad Zargar was the guest of honour on
the occasion.
Mohammad
Arshid, 8th class student of MET School Rajouri bagged first,
Annan Ayub, 8th class student of Amin Academy, Kishtwar bagged
2nd, while as Gazzala Nazir of Iqra Public School Achhabal Anantnag
got third position in the final competition.
Justice(R) Hakim
Imitiyaz Hussain said that Kashmir Valley has very ancient history of Naat
recitation and the state has produced a number of “ Naat Khawn” during the past
several years. He said that this tradition means to be enriched in the days to
come and this spirit needs to be engraved in the minds of new generation so
that the young boys and girls are brought up with high moral values and
dedicated approach towards living a virtuous life.
Addressing on the occasion, the Director DIPR appreciated and
congratulated the students for participation in the competition. He said there
is no dearth of potential in the students of the state, saying that there is
need to provide them opportunity and proper platform for showing their worth in
different fields like academics, sports and other extracurricular activities.
