EOC set up to maintain coordination

UDHAMPUR, JUNE 30: To take preventive measures in advance for dealing with situation arising due to flash floods and landslides, the District Development Commissioner, Ravinder Kumar today took a thorough review of   disaster preparedness at a meeting of District Disaster Management Authority. 

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Krishan Lal, ASP, Faisal Qureshi, ACR, Subash Dogra, Chief Planning Officer, Ashok Khajuria, Assistant Commissioner Development, Noor Alam, and district officers of various departments.

The meeting chalked out a comprehensive plan for tackling any untoward happening in the district during the monsoon season.

The DDC outlined the importance of inter departmental coordination in dealing with any emergency and emphasized the need for effective launch of disaster measures during any exigency. He also called for ensuring quick communication about the flood message to the main control room.

He directed for identifying all vulnerable areas and holding Sub-Division level meetings to frame contingency plans.

In this regard, he asked all agencies to keep their resources and manpower ready for any emergency. 

The meeting also finalized establishment of an Emergency Operation Centre (24 x 7) with contact number 01992-272727 and 01992-272728 to maintain close coordination among various departments and agencies. 

It was decided that the Emergency Centre will function under the close supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur. Apart   District Police Udhampur has also established a Police Control Room with contact No:  01992-276915 and 9622205553; and Flood Control Room with Contact No: 01992-270985, the meeting was informed.

Block Level committees headed by Naib-Tehsildar   were also constituted to monitor the forecast threat of floods and land slide in their respect Jurisdiction. They were asked to remain vigilant to immediately report damage (if any) and unusual rise of water level in rivers and nallahas to the control room on daily basis.
