Notices for
maintaining mandatory facilities served
RAJOURI, JULY 03: During a week-long
drive, the Department of Legal Metrology Rajouri inspected 18 petrol
pumps/retail outlets for quality check and mandatory facilities like free air,
display of working hours and display of name and telephone number of oil
company personnel for the convenience of customers, First Aid Box, toilet and
safety equipment as per statutory requirements such as fire extinguishers, sand
buckets etc.
On the direction of
District Administration, inspection was conducted in all nine tehsils of the
district. Around 9 petrol pumps were inspected in Rajouri, 4 in Nowshera, 3 in
Sunderbani and 1 each in Koteranka and Beripattan. Of 23 outlets 2 belonged to
BSF, 2 were closed down and 1 at Sunderbani namely S K filing station having
diesel and petrol dispensing units at different locations.
The inspection team
conducted quality and quantity checks and found both up-to the mark at all
functional outlets. However mandatory facilities were lacking at all locations.
The team charged Rs 77000 as fine from pumps for not keeping filter
papers for quality check of petrol, 500 ml jar, calibrated hydrometer,
thermometer and ASTM (American Society for Testing of Materials) conversion
charts to carry out density test and calibrated 5 litre measuring jar duly
stamped by LMD.
Notices were served to these petrol outlets for ensuring provision of
mandated facilities for customers and requisite material/equipments to be
produced on demand for quality and quantity check.
