SRINAGAR, JULY 17: Principal
Secretary Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon today
visited Directorate of Animal Husbandry Kashmir (DAHK) to reviewed its
functioning and developmental schemes.
During his
inspection at Central Veterinary Hospital he interacted with the doctors and
applauded their efforts in treating all kinds of animals like sheep, goat, pets
and other large animals.
Dr. Samoon also
evaluated various pets in the hospital and interacted with the pet owners and
various livestock farmers rearing sheep, goat and checked various medicines
being provided to farmers on 75 % subsidy.
He appreciated
the use of frozen semen technology adopted by the department for
upgradation of local livestock.
While interacting
with officers of Poultry Marketing Division he was apprised regarding the
establishment of sale units for dressed broiler birds and table eggs.
After inspecting
various offices in the campus Dr Samoon chaired a meeting of all campus
officers, wherein he was apprised of the functioning of the Department and
various interventions required for proper implementation of various
developmental schemes and programmes.
He gave a patient
hearing to all the demands raised by various officers and also applauded the
efforts of the department in the prompt containment of FMD (Foot & Mouth
Disease) outbreak in a valley.
Dr Samoon agreed
in principle for the need to establish permanent livestock check post at Mughal
Road as well as the need for relocation of existing check-post which is also a
quarantine station at Zig Lower Munda Qazi Gund.
The visiting dignitary also checked the biometric attendance system
installed at Directorate of Animal Husbandry Kashmir.
