Jammu, Oct 02: Mahatma Gandhi & Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri among
the shining jewels in the Indian leadership who were born in India and left a
great history for the coming generations. Mahatma Gandhi born on October 2,
1869 and Lal Bahadur Shastri on October 2, 1904. Both of them played their
unique role as Mahatma Gandhi and Prime Minister of India respectively. Both
were among the shining stars in the Indian Freedom Movement whereas Mohandas
Karamchand Gandhi emerged in the history of India after its independence from
the British Rule as Mahatma Gandhi. His message and mission to fight against
imperial power through non-violence has been acclaimed by the world as unique
and scientific. Today the world leadership which believes in guns, wars and
battles in the East and the West has recognized the unique resistance movement
preached by Mahatma Gandhi during the independence movement of India from the
British Rule. Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, a commoner led the country as Prime
Minister of India against Pakistan aggression in 1965 and had also demonstrated
his strength to fight and commitment to peace by signing Agreement in Tashkent
in January, 1966.
Both Gandhi ji and Shastri ji
were born on this day, October 2, remembered today by several advocates, social
activists, youth and students in New Delhi.
Addressing the new generation,
Prof.Bhim Singh, Executive Chairman of the State Legal Aid Committee who is
also Chief Patron of National Panthers Party, called on the new generation to
get ready for another battle for the freedom and security of India’s culture
and civilization which is under threat today from different angles. Prof.Bhim
Singh called on the new generation particularly the lawyers and intellectuals
to get ready for another battle for the safety, security and protection of
India’s cultural heritage which has been flowing since thousands of years. He
hailed the jurists and the law-makers for ensuring that the moral, social and
fundamental heritage of the people living in this country for thousands of
years is kept intact and going. He called on the new generation today
particularly the law-makers, the parliamentarians, historians and the
revolutionary youth to open their eyes and mind and judge for themselves what
is happening around particularly on the floors of the highest court of law, the
Supreme Court. He strongly disagreed with the two latest judgments by the large
benches of the Supreme Court with regard to homosexuality and adultery. The senior
advocate educated in England with highest degree in law described the judgments
by the Supreme Court giving freedom for homosexuals and lesbians to go free
declaring the present law under Section 377 (Indian Penal Code) as unjust hence
damn it. Secondly, the Supreme Court Constitutional Bench has also quashed
Sections 497 & 498 declaring the law as undesirable and illegal. He
declared the members of the Legal Aid Committee who had gathered from different
states of the country that both these decisions given by the Supreme Court
5-judge bench under the leadership of the outgoing Chief Justice, Shri Deepak
Mishra shall be registered under constitutional battle from the same platform
of the Supreme Court. He said that the new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court
who shall take over as Chief Justice on October 3, 2018 shall be approached to
reconstitute a larger bench in the Supreme Court to reconsider both these above
mentioned horrifying judgments in the interest of keeping the unique cultural
heritage of India intact. This pledge was taken by several lawyers and social
activists on the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri celebrating
the birthday of Gandhi ji & Shastri ji.
