Mumbai, Sep 22: Actor Abhishek Bachchan says going forward he will be conscious to not be a part of any film which will make his daughter Aaradhya feel awkward while watching.
"I will now choose whatever work I do in professional career based on Aaradhya. I would not personally, currently, like to make a film which I feel Aaradhya would feel awkward watching," Bachchan said.
The actor was in conversation with journalist Mayank Shekhar at Jagran Cinema Summit, here Friday.
Bachchan said both him and his actor-wife Aishwarya Rai are very clear that they won't force their daughter to pick a profession of their choice and would stand by her decision irrespectively.
"As far as Aishwarya and I are concerned, be it tomorrow, twenty years down the line or whenever, whatever she decides, we will support her no matter what. That's what our parents did for us as well.
"As a parent you want the best for your child. What she decides to do is completely her choice. We will never weigh down on her, that this is what we expect you to do. We would be proud of her regardless of what she becomes," he added.
The "Manmarziyaan" star said his parents Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya never brought work home.
"Dad never brought his work home. The first time I saw my father come home in a costume was when he was shooting 'Insaniyat' and he came home for lunch dressed as a police inspector. Otherwise, we never grew up like a typical film industry kids.
"None of the film magazines were allowed in the house. There was a press ban going in at that time with my father. We, for many years, didn't even know the concept of a film industry. It was our normal life."
Bachchan said almost all his friends were industry kids Hrithik Roshan, Aditya and Uday Chopra so for him, growing up in that environment was normal.
"When I was a kid, I thought everyone has 500 people waiting outside their house. That was my normal. People socially coming home were all part of the film industry. That world becomes yours." (PTI)
Hyderabad, Sep 3: Abhishek Bachchan is never under pressure to live up to his family's name but says high audience expectation is always good to bring out the best in any actor.
The star son, who rates his dad Amitabh Bachchan as his favourite actor, says his family background is not something on his mind when facing camera and he feels like any other artiste in the industry.
"That's a good thing, people should have high expectations of you. Then you can deliver to high expectations," Abhishek told.
The 'Guru', 'Yuva' and 'Dhoom' actor is back with 'Manmarziyaan' releasing on September 14, after a two-year break, which he spent reassessing and re-evaluating his acting career.
"It was a personal decision about how I want to approach my work. It wasn't the kind of work I was doing or anything. It was just that I felt I as an actor had become a bit complacent about," he said.
He does not see his return to the silver screen as being his second innings. "But that's what you (media) are all going to call, so I will accept that".
Excited and happy with Anurag Kashyap-directed 'Manmarziyaan', he is now keen to know what the audiences are going to think about the movie.
Abhishek said he really enjoyed working with Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal, the main leads in the upcoming film, along with him, describing them as gifted actors, and it was a great learning experience for him.
He said he has been focusing on his schedules in the last one year and has "lots and lots of work" going forward. (PTI)
Mumbai, Aug 30: After a brief sabbatical from film, Abhishek Bachchan is returning with "Manmarziyaan" and his co-star Taapsee Pannu calls the actor's decision to take a break extremely "brave and courageous."
Post his 2016 release "Housefull 3", Abhishek took time off from cinema as he went on analysing his career and where it was headed.
His decision to hold off for a while may show that the instability in the industry puts everyone on the same level -- be it a star kid or an outsider -- but Taapsee says for her it only reflects one thing: strength.
"Abhishek will sometimes be sure, sometimes unsure of things but you need strength to survive all the ups and downs. Then to take a break to sort things out and return with a film like 'Manmarziyaan'. It is not a conventional heroic film for him to do. It is very brave and he is strong as a person to do that. It requires courage," Taapsee told.
The "Pink" star says it would be wrong to say that Abhishek has not proved himself as a performer in the industry.
"If you talk about his background, he is Amitabh Bachchan's son and he has a legacy on top of him. Yes, they (star kids) do get privilege of being a star regardless of whatever work they do. But he has proved himself as an actor in films. It is not that he is totally devoid of good performance and we all know that."
The 31-year-old actor says there is both an advantage and a disadvantage in having a famous last name.
"They (star kids) will never have a dearth of opportunities but they have to filter things. Unlike people like me, who have a dearth of opportunities at the first place, forget about filtering the offers. That's the difference.
"But it doesn't make things easy for them because they have a name to live up to and people to answer to. I don't have that baggage."
Directed by Anurag Kashyap, "Manmazriyaan" is written by Kanika Dhillon and also features Vicky Kaushal. The Aanand L Rai backed romantic-comedy-drama is scheduled to release on September 14. (PTI)
Mumbai, Aug 2 : JP Dutta's "Paltan" was supposed to be a comeback for Abhishek Bachchan but the actor pulled out of the film at the last minute and the director says he is clueless about the reason behind the actor's departure from the project.
It was with Dutta that Abhishek made his debut opposite Kareena Kapoor in the veteran director's "Regugee" in 2000.
He later collaborated with the director again on the films "LOC Kargil" and "Umroa Jaan".
Abhishek was initially attached with the war-drama but he reportedly backed out of the film two days before the shooting commenced.
When asked why Abhishek backed out of the project, Dutta told reporters, "Please go and speak to the Bachchans and let me know, because even I don't know."
Abhishek was replaced by actor Harshvardhan Rane, who has now bagged a three film deal with Dutta.
"Paltan" is based on the 1967 Nathu La and Cho La clashes between the Indian and Chinese armies. It stars Jackie Shroff, Arjun Rampal, Sonu Sood, Gurmeet Choudhary, Siddhanth Kapoor, Rane and Luv Sinha.
The 68-year-old returns to direction after "Umrao Jaan", which released in 2006.
Dutta said he was born to make films and he finds happiness when he is directing.
"I was born to do this job. For me, happiness lies in making films. When director I'm not making one I'm sad... When you are young you realise what your calling is. I think I've been sent to do this. To make our soldiers immortal," the director said.
"Paltan" is produced by JP Films and presented by Zee Studios and is scheduled to release on September 7. PTI
