Bareilly (UP), Oct 8: A couple was injured in an acid attack on the Pilibhit highway here, police said Monday.
The incident took place Sunday when Jagdish (42) was returning home in the Izzatnagar area of the city with his wife, the police said, adding that Jagdish's friend Kuldeep and another person allegedly threw acid on the couple.
Jagdish and his wife were rushed to the hospital, where the condition of both was stated to be stable.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Muniraj said the accused were allegedly pressuring Jagdish's wife for having illicit relations with them, adding that a hunt was launched for the two men. (PTI)
Muzaffarnagar (UP), Sep 20: A woman suffered severe burns after her husband threw acid on her following a quarrel in this western Uttar Pradesh district, police said Thursday.
According to the police, accused Bablu Kumar (30), a resident of Faloda village in the Purkazi police station area, has been on the run since the incident Wednesday evening.
Purkazi police station SHO Vijay Singh said a case has been registered based on a complaint filed by the woman's mother and a hunt is on for the accused.
The woman was admitted to the district hospital.
After the incident, a group of women activists staged a protest and demanded immediate arrest of the accused. (PTI)
Amritsar, Sep 15: A 23-year-old woman suffered severe burn injuries when two unidentified masked men allegedly threw acid on her at Thoba village, police said Saturday.
The incident occurred on Friday when the woman, a student of Bed, was returning from college when two motorcycle-borne men chased her after she got down from the bus at the village, nearly twenty 25 km from here, they said.
The accused fled from the spot after the incident, police said.
Some passersby immediately admitted her to a village hospital from where she was referred to Amritsar Government Guru Nanak Hospital, they said.
A case has been registered against the unidentified accused under section 326 A of the Indian Penal Code for wilfully causing grievous injuries by acid. (PTI)
Muzaffarnagar, Sep 12 : A man suffered serious burn injuries after acid was thrown on him in Baghra village here, police said Wednesday.
The incident took place on Tuesday evening and a case of attempt to murder was registered against four persons, Station House Officer Sube Singh said.
The injured, Badruddin, is undergoing treatment at a hospital here, he said, adding that his condition is serious.
The accused are at large.PTI
Muzaffarnagar, June 25 : A girl student was allegedly sexually harassed by a youth, who also threatened to throw acid on her when she turned down his proposal of marriage, the police said today.
The incident took place in in Brahmapuri locality under Civil Lines Police Station area here on Saturday.
According to the complaint lodged by the girl's family, the youth, Shakir Ali, pressured the girl to marry him and when she said no to the proposal, the accused sexually harassed her and also threatened to throw acid on her, a police official said.
On the basis of the complaint, a case has been registered and a hunt is on to nab the accused, the police said.PTI
