Jammu, July 03  :   Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma, today chaired an officers meeting to review the action taken on up gradation Plan of Bahu Fort and Bagh- E- Bahu area.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner JMC, Pankaj Magotra, Director Floriculture, Babila Rakwal, VC JDA, Vikas Sharma, Joint Director Tourism, Shokat Mahmood Malik, ADC (adm) Jammu, Tahir Firdous and senior functionaries of PWD, fisheries and other concerned.

Regarding Bagh-e-Bahu Park, Director Floriculture informed the Div Com that for up-gradation of the garden and other allied works in the park, Rs 6.31 crore DPR has been prepared and the same has been sent for approval.

It was informed that Rs.5.12 crore tender for widening of Bahu Fort Road has been floated besides DRP for development of Bahu fort complex and parking area is at final stage.

The Div Com directed the concerned officers for identification of land for development amusement cum water Park.

The Div Com asked the VC JDA, to constitute a committee comprising officers of various departments which will contemplate, discuss, co-ordinate efforts for holistic development of Bahu fort. He also directed him to develop 3D model of Bahu Fort.

He discussed up gradation plan for all major tourist spots in Bahu fort area including Fish Aquarium, Maa Kali Temple complex, Bagh-e-Bahu Park, Cable Car Project and Mahamaya temple.


JAMMU, MARCH 14: In connection with the approaching Holy Navratras and expecting huge rush of the people at BaweWali Mata Temple, the Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, today visited Bahu Fort and took stock of the arrangements put in place by the administration for the devotees.
A team of officers of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Roads and Buildings, Public Health Engineering, Health, Power Development Department accompanied the Speaker during his visit.
Reviewing the arrangements, Kavinder Gupta directed the concerned officers to make all necessary arrangements well before time for the convenience of the devotees. He directed to ensure uninterrupted power, water supply and proper sanitation in and around the temple.
The Speaker asked the concerned officials of PHE, PDD, Municipal and other concerned to ensure the basic facilities are provided to the pilgrims during these days.
The Speaker directed the JMC authorities to put in more men and machinery to ensure proper sanitation in the area during the Holy days.  He further instructed them to ensure cleanliness of lanes and drains, parks and lifting of garbage from roads and streets so that the pilgrims may not face inconvenience.
Directing the R&B authorities, the Speaker asked them to lay tiles on small stretch of road near Police Station, Bahu Fort, within two days. He also directed the JMC to make a permanent solution of drain blocking in front of the main gate of Bagh-i-Bahu and construction of ladies lavatory near Bazigar Basti. The Speaker said that funds have already been released for the purpose and there is no excuse for not completing the works well in time.
Interacting with the people at Bahu, the Speaker assured them that Government is working for the welfare of the people and every genuine problem of the people will be addressed.
Later, the Speaker paid obeisance at BaweWali Mata Temple and prayed for the peace and prosperity of the State. He also interacted with the visitors at the temple.


JAMMU, JANUARY 05 - Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta inaugurated the week long Bahu Fort Football Premier League being held at Bahu Fort, here today.
The tournament has been organized to encourage youth participation in sports and provide them a platform to showcase their sporting talents.
The opening match for the tournament was played between youth of ward 47 and ward 48.
Appreciating the organizers for this event, the Speaker said that sports, co curricular activities are essential to rightly channelize youth towards productive, healthy lifestyle. He said that with their involvement in sports, youth can be kept away from drug menace, besides motivating them to follow a righteous path in their lives.
Enumerating the benefits of games and sports, the Speaker said sports keep body and mind fit, besides teaching accountability, dedication, leadership and other positive traits among youth. He said the Government is taking all necessary steps for promotion of physical literacy and healthy living among the people. Besides, efforts are underway to create advanced infrastructure and facilities for sports in the State, he added. 

Earlier, the Speaker also joined the Gurpurab celebration at the Chand Kour Gurdwara, Gumat wherein he encouraged the people to inculcate the inspirational teachings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

             JAMMU, AUGUST 29: Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries   Abdul Ghani Kohli today inspected the working of Aquarium-Cum-Awareness centre here at Bahu-Fort.
The Minister took a keen interest in each and every unit of the aquarium and was satisfied with its functioning. The Minister instructed the officers to work with full zeal and dedication for maintenance of the Countrys biggest underground aquarium. He said  the centre generates good source of revenue for the State and act as a hub of knowledge for students and Scholars.
The Director Fisheries   R.N. Pandita apprised the   Minister about the features of the state of the art Fish Aquarium which is spread over an area of more than 30 kanals.
 The main Aquarium is in the shape of tunnel which is about 600 feet long and house 24   Aqua-Caves. The aquarium has about 120 varieties of both marine and fresh water Fishes. Besides being main attraction for tourists visiting the state,  this centre creates awareness among the masses about the rich ornamental fish biodiversity and need to conserve the fish fauna for maintenance of ecological balance.

The Director Fisheries also briefed the Minister about the initiatives being taken by the department for commissioning of phase-II of the aquarium.
