 POONCH, JULY 22: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Tariq Ahmad Zargar today visited Balakote sector and met with shelling-affected people living on the LoC.
The DC was accompanied by SSP Poonch Rajiv Kumar Panday, SDM Mendhar Rahual K Yadav, SDPO Mendhar Rayaz Tantray and officials from different departments.
During the meeting with shelling affected areas, the Deputy Commissioner assured them that the district administration has taken optimum measures to relocate residents to safer areas if the frequency of ceasefire violations by other side increases.
DC expressed hope that the situation would be brought under control soon. He also visited some of shelling-affected areas in Balakote sector and took stock of the situation.
He directed the local police and administration to keep close eye on the situation and prepare a contingency plan with active participation of local volunteers for tackling the  situation in case of any eventuality.
          DC further asked the concerned to avail the services of local unemployed trained paramedical youth for saving human lives in case of need. He informed the people that the administration is working on a plan to equip the local trained youth with all necessary medical facilities of first aid so that they can help people in case of cross border firing.

Earlier the locals put forth the demand for doctors, veterinarians and medical staff with all necessary medicines at PHCs & SPHCs along the LoC.

MENDHAR, MAY 15: Amid prevailing tension on Line of Control (LoC) and continuous shelling, MLA, Javed Ahmed Rana today asked the Sub-Divisional administration in Mendhar to remain prepared to face any eventuality with promptness in case of escalation.
Rana was reviewing the preparedness of administration at a meeting of officers in Balakote.
While addressing the meeting, the MLA asked all the officers to ensure that all requisite arrangements are put in place. He instructed for constitution of dedicated medical and VAS' teams to attend people and livestock in need.
All the arrangements must be planned well in advance so that people are evacuated and attended to in case of escalations in Balakote sector, he instructed.
Meanwhile, Rana urged for construction of concrete bunkers to prevent loss of previous lives.
He also reiterated his demand of a Trauma hospital in Mendhar to arrest the disastrous consequences of frequent LoC skirmishes on shelling victims.

Besides, the lawmaker demanded Critical Care Ambulances specifically for shelling prone areas of Poonch and Rajouri to ensure that immediate and best possible health care is provided in case of LoC skirmishes.
