Jammu, July 28: In a major relief announced for the soldiers, the Ministry of Defence (MOD), Government of India (GOI) has resolved two long pending issues concerning the soldiers of the nation’s Defence Forces stated Brig Anil Gupta, State Spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party and an eminent veteran. Elaborating the decisions of the Government, Brig Gupta said that while the first one deals with in-service career progression of the soldiers, the other pertains to restoration of the status of Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs). “BJP is thankful to Smt. N Sitharaman, the Raksha Mantri for conceding to the long pending requests of the Armed Forces having impact on their morale. The decision will enable faster promotions of the soldiers and restore the gazetted officer status to JCOs, which had been denied by the previous governments. Narendra Modi government needs to be complimented for another set of soldier-friendly measures which follow resolution of almost a dozen anomalies that arose after the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission Report and were cause of resentment among the soldiers,” emphasised Brig Gupta.
As per the latest directions issued by MOD, modified assured career progression (MACP) scheme for jawans will be applicable from January 1, 2006 and not September 1, 2008. Under the MACP, a Sepoy gets promoted as Naik after eight years of service, as Havildar after 16 years and as Naib Subedar after 24 years of service. Since, the new order has retrospective effect, it would make the promotion of those jawans faster who were eligible as on that day. It would also benefit the eligible pensioners, said Brig Gupta.
“Defence Forces have a well- established three tier hierarchal command and control system in form of Officers, JCOs and Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs). However, over a period of time, this well- established system was compromised by the mandarins of South Block by coining a new term Personnel below Officer Rank (PBOR), wherein all ranks other than the officers were clubbed in this category and denying the JCOs, their gazetted status. This not only affected their status but also their allowances. Despite repeated representations by the Army, which is affected the most, the previous governments refused to concede to their genuine demand. The MOD has now withdrawn its letter that did not permit “gazetted officer” status to JCOs. It would benefit almost 64,000 JCOs in the three services of the Defence Forces,” explained Brig Gupta.
In another major soldier friendly major affecting the veterans and soldiers of Jammu & Kashmir, the State Administration Council has sanctioned the creation of four new offices of ZilaSainik Welfare Officer (ZSWO). These would be setup at Akhnoor, RS Pura, Reasi and Kupwara. “At present the ex-servicemen of these areas are dependent on ZSWO Jammu, Udhampur and Baramulla respectively and have to travel a considerable distances to visit their ZSWO for resolution of various problems. The new arrangement will provide them these services much closer to their places of residence and they would be able to avail easily the benefits of numerous veteran welfare schemes launched by the GOI,” said Brig Gupta. BJP is thankful to the honourable Governor and his team for this grand gesture towards the welfare of ex-servicemen.
Jammu, July 03: Bharatiya Janata Party has taken a very serious note of attack on a young girl belonging to Sikh community at Tral in South Kashmir. In a press statement issued at the party Headquarters, Brig Anil Gupta, State Spokesperson has condemned the incident unequivocally and termed it as an attempt to create a fear-psychosis among the minorities through acts of terror. Giving details of the incident Brig Gupta said that the girl is a student of Islamic University of Science and Technology, Anantnag and is a resident of Gandhpora Tral. On Monday morning when she was waiting at Tral Bus Stand to board a bus for the University, she was attacked by two masked men riding on a motor cycle. An attempt was made to stab her also. The girl was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital where from she was discharged later and returned home.
The girl has a brother who is already handicapped. The girl is so scared and terrified that she is not even willing to give any statement to the police. The attack is another attempt by the radicalised segment to scare away the brave members of the minority Sikh community in Kashmir which so far has with stood valiantly such attempts to force their migration, said Brig Gupta. BJP appeals to the Honourable Governor to ensure that the miscreants are apprehended immediately and punished severely. The administration should ensure the safety of the minorities and take stern measures to prevent any form of harassment to them appealed Brig Gupta.
BJP ensures the minorities in Kashmir that Party is always alert to their needs and will always remain in forefront to secure their interests stated the spokesperson.

Jammu, June 29: With the current leadership of the Congress having failed to swing the fortunes of the party, a desperate attempt is being made by its leaders to evoke Indira Gandhi as a popular great leader and a bold, decisive Prime Minister the like of which country has yet to see, reads a press statement released by Bharatiya Janata Party countering the press release of the Congress. The present leadership has brought the Party to such a stage that it now is forced to piggy back on regional parties to remain politically relevant. The blind loyalty for the “Family” has made Congress a fiefdom of the Gandhi Parivar where the leadership is not earned but inherited, said Brig Anil Gupta BJP’s state spokesperson.
Scared of being completely wiped out in the 2019 Parliamentary elections, the party is hoping to revive its fortunes by singing paean of its founder President Indira Gandhi. The readers would recall that grand old party of pre-independence era, Indian National Congress was split in 1969 when Indira Gandhi formed her own party Congress (R) or New Congress and later Congress (Indira). She as nation’s Prime Minister was expelled from the party by the then Congress President for violating party discipline. The present day Congress party is the lineage of same split party of Indira Gandhi and is a splinter group of INC contrary to the tall claims made by its leaders of having participated in the nation’s freedom struggle, a ploy used to mislead the nation described Brig Gupta.
No doubt Indira Gandhi was a tall leader and she played a decisive role during the 1971 war with Pakistan. It was for this reason that in keeping with the democratic traditions BJP’s Atal Behari Vajpayee had praised her in the Parliament. But the present day Congress leadership has displayed lack of that decorum and courtesy when it openly challenged the veracity of Surgical Strikes launched in September 2016 under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi accused Brig Gupta. Congress party feels that it was the divine right of Gandhi Family to rule this country and no other dispensation can do that.
Though 1971 war was won due to the valour of Indian Army and the sterling leadership of its military hierarchy yet Indira Gandhi took the credit for having taken the political decision. But at Shimla she surrendered everything to machinations of Bhutto when she decided to return one lakh prisoners and captured territory to Pakistan without securing any benefits for India including vacation of POJK. In the annals of history Indira Gandhi will go down as leader who lacked vision and strategic thinking claimed the statement. As claimed by the Congress, Shimla Agreement was not a victory for India but a classic example of surrendering the victory on platter to the enemy betraying the supreme sacrifices made by the Indian Army blamed Brig Gupta.
Who can forget the dark chapter of India’s history when in 1975 emergency was imposed by misusing the provisions of the Constitution of India for personal interest rather than the national interest? The emergency was declared not because India was in danger but Indira was in danger said Brig Gupta. The nation will never forgive Indira Gandhi for this great betrayal. “The Congress Party rightly decided not to evoke Pandit Nehru because it realised the angst among the nation due to the famous Nehruvian blunders.  I would like to warn the Congress that evoking Indira Gandhi may also boomerang because of her image of a ‘dictator’ and a selfish leader who first split her party for personal ambition and later imposed emergency on the nation to save her personal interest,” cautioned Brig Gupta.

Jammu, Apr 06: True to his nature Dr Farooq Abdullah has once again changed colours with the onset of summer in Kashmir, as he is reputed for changing colours like the seasons in Kashmir. “People are intoxicated by Azadi”, Farooq said while speaking in a seminar organised by Central University Kashmir in Srinagar. Not very long ago, Farooq had said, “talk of an independent Kashmir was “wrong” as the Valley is landlocked and surrounded by three nuclear powers — China, Pakistan and India”, stated Brig Gupta.
Admonishing Farooq, separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Gilani had said, “These power-hungry politicians always played deceit. These irresponsible and short-sighted people have always served the interests of their masters. They are barefaced, follow their treacherous politics and are never ashamed of their absurd statements.” Gilani had also advised Farooq to revisit annals of history and claimed that the former was speaking against the wishes and aspirations of the people. It appears that Farooq has taken the advice of Gilani very seriously and forgotten his convictions of the past when he portrayed himself as a true Indian and nationalist leader lamented Brig Gupta.
Brig Gupta reminded the NC patron of what he had written in his book “My Dismissal-Farooq Abdullah” published in 1985, “For us accession of J&K to India is complete, final and irrevocable. We will not allow this to be reopened in any case.” Has Dr Farooq forgotten this or he is again resorting to ‘opportunistic politics’ to plunge the Valley into a fresh turmoil this summer, so that any hope a common Kashmiri had of a peaceful summer, that would enable him to learn a livelihood with dignity, is dashed to the ground, questioned Brig Gupta?
Condemning the statement, Brig Gupta said that it amply proves that as far as NC-Congress combine is concerned, “there is no real dividing line between the so-called 'mainstream’ and so-called 'secessionist' politics.” These two parties in the valley have mastered the art of playing with people’s emotions closer to elections. They did so at the time of Srinagar Parliamentary by-election, which Farooq won as the alliance candidate. Now they have begun to prepare the ground for 2019 elections with open support to stone-pelters and terrorists.
In 1986, he came out with the idea of “Greater Autonomy”, which was dumped by the then NDA government in the dustbin but his son continued to be a member of the same government. Farooq himself did not consider it appropriate to resign as the Chief Minister despite the humiliation but today he is blaming the present CM for not leaving the government for love of power exclaimed Brig Gupta. Farooq should not belittle the intellect of the common masses.
Reacting to Farooq’s accusation against BJP for communalising politics, Brig Gupta reminded Dr Farooq that those who live in glass houses do not throw stones at others. He should first understand the ideology of his own party before blaming us for communalising the situation said Brig Gupta. While BJP believes in inclusive politics without appeasement, NC has been the harbinger of “Exclusive” and divisive politics in J&K asserted Brig Gupta.
