Inter-district Cricket tourney 
JAMMU, JULY 09: Cricketer Irfan Pathan today interacted with the local players after giving away trophies to the winner and runner up teams of cricket tournament organized by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association here at GGM Science College.
 The final match was played between Singh Cricket Club and Khour Cricket Club Saturday.  Khour Cricket Club won the final match and bagged the tournament trophy.
During the month-long tournament, several teams played matches held in various districts of Jammu division.
In his address, the chief guest complimented the organizers for organizing the tournament and providing a platform to youth to explore their hidden talent in the field of Sports. He said that sports activities help the youth to channelize their energy in a positive direction.
Later, Irfan Pathan interacted with players hailing from different districts of Jammu division. The chief guest also gave away trophies to the winner and runners up team.
The JKCA is also going to organize a three-day camp for under 23 category Ranji probable for selected players from various districts of Jammu division. About 80 players will participate in the 3-day camp.

JAMMU, JUNE 27: Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage (INTACH) today organized a workshop and interactive session involving Instructors and Artisans associated with Crafts in Jammu. 
MLA Kavinder Gupta, Joint Director Handicrafts Department Anju Gupta, Director Centre for Heritage Studies University of Jammu Prof Anita Billawaria, Convener INTACH Jammu Chapter SM Sahni were present on the occasion.
Kavinder Gupta underlined the need to protect the rich heritage of the state. He asked the department to showcase the local handicrafts to the tourists visiting the state for its promotion.   He said that department shall encourage women folk to go for self-employment adding that women- empowerment can be achieved only through the improvement of their socio-economic condition.
 In his welcome address SM Sahni gave a brief introduction of INTACH and initiatives taken by it. He gave a brief on the DPR for Mubarakh Mandi, Samba Fort and GGM Science College along with vision documents framed for development of Purmandal-Utterbehni Circuit and Jammu Heritage Corridor.
Joint Director, Anju Gupta informed that Handicrafts department operates 145 training centres across Jammu division which are imparting training in Carpet, Sozni, Leather Embroidery, Phoolkari, wood work, Bamboo Work, Tilla Embroidery and many more crafts.

JAMMU, SEPTEBMER 28- Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat today inaugurated IInd phase of  State level Football Tournament  “Khelo Sehat ke Liya” (Play for Health) Football Tournament here at GGM Science College Ground, Jammu.
The tournament being organized by Health Department in collaboration with J&K Football Association and sponsored by J&K State Sports Council  aims at to boost sports activities and channelise the energy of youth of the state in positive direction.
The inaugural match was played between GGM Science College and MAM College.
Speaking on the occasion, Bali Bhagat   appreciated the organizer and said that the sports play an important role in the development of physical fitness of the youth. He exhorted upon the youth to vigorously participate in co-curricular activities.
Briefing about the tournament, the Minister said that its first phase was held in Kashmir Province wherein 24 colleges participated and matches were played at Srinagar, Bandipora, Baramulla and Anantnag districts.
He informed that  Degree college Anantnag, Degree College Ganderbal, Degree College Sopore and Islamia College have emerged winner in Kashmir Province.
In the same manner, the matches would be  played  here   Jammu, Kathua, Rajouri and Kishtwar, he said adding  the colleges of these districts will lock horns with each other and in the same manner four teams will emerge winner in Jammu province. The final of the tournament will be held in Srinagar, he added.
He said the aim is to engage the youth of the state particularly college students in sports so that their energies are channelized in right directions. “ Also,  the  idea is to promote the game of football in every nook and corner of the state”  he informed.
Earlier, Project Director, J & K State AIDS Control Society, Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Rather- the State level Nodal Officer presented the  welcome address.

Among others present were Principal Government Medical College Jammu Sunanda Raina, Registrar Academics Yash Paul, Mission Director, NHM, S.  Mohan Singh, Principal Science College, S. Satinder Singh besides President JK Football Association Z. A Thakur, Sr. Vice President JKFA Prof. B. A. Shah, Joint  Secretary Sports Council Jammu Shiv Kumar Sharma besides sports persons in large number.
