New Delhi, Feb 28 :  Gold prices tumbled by Rs 450 to Rs 34,200 per 10 grams at the bullion market Thursday, tracking weak global cues amid fall in demand from local jewellers, according to All India Sarafa Association.

Silver followed suit and dropped by Rs 425 to Rs 41,050 per kg owing to poor offtake by industrial units and coin makers.

Traders said sentiments weakened on the back of a subdued global trend where gold fell after dollar rose as investors grew cautious about US trade talks with China.

Globally, gold prices fell 0.10 per cent per cent to USD 1,319.10 an ounce, while silver held steady at USD 15.80 an ounce in New York Thursday.

Besides, considerable fall in demand from local jewellers and retailers at the domestic spot market too fuelled the downtrend, they said.

In the national capital, gold of 99.9 per cent and 99.5 purities slumped by Rs 450 each to Rs 34,200 and Rs 34,030 per 10 grams, respectively.

Sovereign gold, however, remained unaltered at Rs 26,000 per piece of 8 grams.

In step with gold, silver ready plunged by Rs 425 to Rs 41,050 per kg and weekly-based delivery by Rs 262 to Rs 39,868 per kg.

Silver coins also dropped by Rs 1,000 to Rs 82,000 for buying and Rs 83,000 for selling of 100 pieces.                  [Agencies]

New Delhi, Feb 26 :  Gold prices fell by Rs 60 to Rs 34,530 per 10 grams at the bullion market Tuesday backed by weak trend overseas amid easing demand from local jewellers at prevailing levels, according to All India Sarafa Association.

Silver, too, dropped by Rs 195 to Rs 41,405 per kg owing to reduced offtake by industrial units, while its coins strengthened on increased demand.

Traders said apart from a weak trend overseas, decline in demand from local jewellers and retailers at existing levels in domestic spot market, mainly weighed on the gold and silver prices.

Globally, spot gold fell 0.14 per cent to USD 1,326.30 an ounce and spot silver by 0.16 per cent to USD 15.93 an ounce in New York.

In the national capital, gold of 99.9 per cent fell by Rs 60 to Rs 34,530 per 10 grams, while gold of 99.5 per cent shed Rs 40 to Rs 34,400 per 10 gram.

Sovereign gold, however, remained unaltered at Rs 26,600 per piece of eight grams in limited deals.

Following gold, silver ready too moved down by Rs 195 to Rs 41,405 per kg and weekly-based delivery fell by Rs 314 to Rs 40,076 per kg.

New Delhi Feb 21 :  Gold prices on Thursday rose Rs 360 to Rs 34,830 per 10 gram at the bullion market here on increased buying from local jewellers, according to the All India Sarafa Association.

Silver, however, fell by Rs 140 to Rs 41,660 per kg on decreased offtake by industrial units.

Bullion traders said sentiment in the domestic market turned upbeat on the back of increased buying by jewellers and retailers, leading to a rise in the prices of the yellow metal. They, however, added that the further gains were capped by weak global market.

Globally, gold was trading lower at USD 1,338.31 an ounce and silver moved marginally down to 15.98 an ounce in New York.

Meanwhile, Tapan Patel, senior research analyst (commodities), HDFC Securities, said going forward, global gold prices may see some correction as "negative divergence on daily charts" is signalling.

He added that the global prices of the yellow metal came under pressure on stronger dollar following the minutes of the US Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC)meeting where the US central bank signalled less dovish stance, keeping the doors open for future rate hikes in 2019.

"The dollar index traded near 96.50, recovering 40 bps (basis points) against the six major currencies after FOMC minutes. The progressive trade talks between the US and China has reinstated the investment confidence in world equity markets which is the additional factor for the decline in gold prices," Patel added.

In the national capital, gold of 99.9 per cent and 99.5 per cent purities advanced by Rs 360 each to Rs 34,830 and Rs 34,680 per 10 gram, respectively.

Gold prices Friday climbed Rs 250 to Rs 34,250 per 10 gram at the bullion market here tracking positive global cues, according to All India Sarafa Association.Silver, however, declined by Rs 50 to Rs 41,300 per kg on subdued demand from industrial units and coin makers.

New Delhi, Feb 1 (PTI) Gold prices Friday climbed Rs 250 to Rs 34,250 per 10 gram at the bullion market here tracking positive global cues, according to All India Sarafa Association.Silver, however, declined by Rs 50 to Rs 41,300 per kg on subdued demand from industrial units and coin makers.

Traders attributed the rise in the gold prices to US Fed maintaining status quo with the interest rates.

The Federal Reserve left the key US lending rate unchanged Wednesday, and said it would be "patient" about making any further changes.

However, lacklustre demand from local jewellers capped the hike in price of precious metal, they added.

Globally, gold traded at USD 1,317.66 an ounce and silver stood at USD 15.88 an ounce in New York.

In the national capital, gold of 99.9 per cent and 99.5 per cent purities advanced by Rs 250 each to Rs 34,250 and Rs 34,100 per 10 gram, respectively.

New Delhi, Jan 16 :  Extending its upward trend for third straight day, gold prices Wednesday gained Rs 65 to Rs 33,190 per 10 gram at the bullion market here due to increased demand from jewellers, according to the All India Sarafa Association.

Silver too followed the trend and surged by Rs 300 to Rs 40,500 per kg driven by significant increase in demand from industrial units and coin makers.

Traders said, gold prices witnessed an uptick, as investors bet on this asset class as a safe haven, owing to depreciation in the rupee vis-a-vis the US dollar.

Besides, a firm trend overseas supported the gain in the prices of yellow metal, they added.

In the last two days, gold prices went up by Rs 250.

Globally, gold traded higher at USD 1,292.03 an ounce and silver stood at USD 15.60 an ounce in New York.

Silver followed suit and recovered by Rs 350 to Rs 39,750 per kg due to increased offtake from industrial units and coin makers.

Traders attributed the rise in gold prices to a firm trend overseas as Asian stocks eased due to concerns about a potential decline in China's economic growth amid an ongoing trade war and signs of tighter monetary policy by the US Federal Reserve.

Globally, gold rose 0.53 per cent to USD 1,225 an ounce and silver by 0.48 per cent to USD 14.75 an ounce in Singapore Monday.

Gold eased in the global markets as the US dollar climbed and global stocks rebounded from a six-day rout, eroding demand for the precious metals as a safe haven.

Easing demand from jewellers as well as retailers too weighed on gold prices in the domestic market, traders said.

Gold prices fell 0.50 per cent to USD 1,218.50 an ounce in New York on Friday.

In the national capital, gold of 99.9 per cent and 99.5 per cent purity fell by Rs 70 each to Rs 32,050 and Rs 31,900 per 10 grams, respectively. The precious metal had gained Rs 470 in the previous three sessions.
