Minister reviews Integrated Development scheme of Shrine
SRINAGAR, MARCH 26: Terming Hazratbal shrine as the symbol of spiritual soul of Kashmir, the Minister for tourism Tassaduq Hussain Mufti today stressed for developing the shrine and its surroundings area in a holistic integrated and eco-friendly manner.
The Minister said that  it will not only help in creating modern-up to date facilities for devotees and visitors but also serve as a key  to highlight ,preserve and broaden understanding of the glory of Kashmir and its spirituality Ethos.
The Minster was addressing a meeting convened to review the Integrated Development of Hazratbal Shrine and its surroundings under PRASAD Scheme.
The Minister was informed that the basic premise of the plan includes conservation of heritage, planning for sustainable development, broadening the tourist experiences.
Seeking details regarding the local community participation in the plan, the Minister was apprised that the plan includes a software compound for developing the community skills in the field of hospitality, art and crafts.
It was given out that  the plan has been developed within the limits of existing local land use plan, especially the Master Plan for Srinagar City, the Guidelines of PRASAD, Minister of Tourism as well as international and national charters, conventions and standards practices in the field of Heritage conservation.
Tassaduq Mufti stressed for sustainability of plan in an  integrated manner by synergizing efforts to focus on needs and concerns of all stockholders to enrich religious and spiritual tourism experiences, besides enhancing employment opportunities.
Seeking details regarding the annual footfall of the shrine, the Minister was informed that the annual footfall of the shrine is 20 lakhs and monthly footfall is 1.5 lakhs.
It was given out the during processions footfall reaches upto 3.5 lakhs in a day and its expected that in future trend will go upto 30 lakhs annually.
The Minister was informed that the tourist activities and management of tourist facilities presently looked after by Tourism department, Lake & Waterways Development Authority and Muslim Waqaf Board in the area are covered under the proposed plan.
Mufti expressing his concern over the number of temporary sheds erected within the site premises said that these  not only mar visual appeal but also are major hindrance in the visual link between several of the sites. He was informed that it is proposed in the plan to provide mechanized tensile structures covering  the entrance courtyard.
The Minister was further apprised that the various shopping units will be constructed with eco-friendly prefabricated shopping kiosks at an estimated cost of Rupees 140 lakhs.
The meeting was informed that besides various other developmental projects it is also proposed in the plan that a multi storied mechanized parking comprising 4 storey block with a parking capacity of 288 vehicles at main Hazrabal Main chowk at an estimated cost of Rupees 1132 lakhs will be established to tackle  traffic issues  .
The Minister was apprised that the core idea of the proposed plan is conservation of heritage and culture sharing it with visitors, besides to drive a national mission for rejuvenation and spiritual augmentation of important religious destinations
The meeting was informed that the proposed plan is to position tourism as a major engine of economic growth, creation of job opportunities and to provide complete tourism experiences by enhancing tourist attractiveness of the religious destinations in a sustainable manner.
Mufti stressed for strengthening the measures for safety and security of tourist and to improve the quality tourism services, besides strengthening the mechanism for bridging the infrastructure gaps at pilgrimage destination.
Managing Director J&K Construction Corporation, managing Director J&K SICOP, Managing Director J&K Housing Board, Managing Director J&K Cable Car Corporation, Director Tourism Kashmir and various other senior officers attended the meeting.

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 21:  Minister of State for Hajj and Auqaf, Syed Farooq Ahmad An­drabi today visited Hazratbal shrine to take firsthand appraisal of the arrangements put in place for upcoming Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).         
The Minister was accompanied by District Development Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah, officials from Waqaf Board, PHE, PDD, Irrigation and Flood Control, SMC, FCS&CA, Police besides the Hazratbal Shrine caretakers.
He directed all the departments to ensure all arrangements well in time to facilitate the devotees paying obeisance at the shrine and asked DDC Srinagar to monitor the arrangements during the holydays.
The Minister appreciated the administration for putting in place proper flooring and heating arrangements. He was informed that all the other necessary measures would be ensured for devotees so that they do not face any kind of inconvenience. He directed the PDD and PHE officials to provide uninterrupted electricity and water round-the-clock on festive days.
Andrabi also directed R&B officials to repair the road patch at Shrine premises.
The DDC Srinagar informed the Minister that additional water tankers would be kept available in the Shrine premises and more tankers will be provided if the need arises.
The Minister was also briefed that informed that the Health Department has also set up various medical camps with all the necessary healthcare facilities in and around the Shrine premises.

It was said that an adequate number of special buses for women would ply from Lal Chowk to Hazratbal during these days besides the arrangement for late evening transportation has been put in place for facilitating devotees.

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 20: Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Asiea Naqash today visited Hazratbal shrine to take stock of the arrangements put in place for upcoming Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).         
On the occasion, the Minister chaired a meeting to review the arrangements and facilities made for devotees who will be visiting the Hazratbal shrine during Milad days starting 19 November.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Syed Abid Rashid, CEO J&K Wakaf Board Fayaz Ahmad, I.G Traffic, Jagjit Kumar, DIG Central, RTO, Chief Engineer PHE, PDD, General Manager SRTC and officers from SMC, Police, Traffic, Fire & Emergency Services, Health, and SRTC attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the Minister was informed that SRTC would ply an adequate number of special buses for women from Lal Chowk to Hazratbal.  She was informed that Health Department would set up 5 medical camps with all healthcare facilities.
The meeting was told that SMC will deploy 110 workers for round the clock sanitation in and around the shrine beside 4 mobile toilets will be put in place at different locations.
Officials of PDD assured that they will provide uninterrupted electricity besides repairing defunct lights in the area and would also keep 60-70 KV generators available to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the shrine.
The meeting was told that PHE will provide round the clock water supply and additional two water tankers would be kept available in the Shrine premises and more tankers will be provided if the need arises. The Minister directed the authorities of R&B department to repair all potholes and choked drains around the shrine.
The I.G Traffic said that they will make public traffic route plans to prevent traffic jams and besides parking spaces will be earmarked as usual where devotees can park their vehicles.
The D.I.G Central assured of providing two more companies of lady constables in addition to already existing 70 constables besides installing of more CCTV cameras outside the shrine to prevent any law and order situation.
The Minister asked all the departments to ensure all arrangements well in time to facilitate the devotees paying obeisance at the shrine and said that she will personally monitor the arrangements during all these days.

The Minister directed the Wakaf Board Authorities to ensure proper flooring and heating arrangements besides comfortable tents in and around the Shrine so that devotees do not face any kind of problem.

Minister reviews Hazratbal Shrine development, beautification project

SRINAGAR, JULY 21: Minister of State for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Housing & Urban Development Asiea Naqash said concerted efforts should be made to achieve tangible results on ground to provide better amenities and services to the people.
The Minster made these remarks during her visit to Hazratbal Shrine to take stock progress of developmental works executed by various agencies there. She said the completion of the projects would give a much-needed facelift to the revered Shrine and its adjoining areas. She directed concerned officials to make concerted efforts so that it can become one of the main centers of pilgrimage tourism in the State.
Stressing on meeting the set deadline, the Minister directed the officials to complete the project before winter season. She called upon the officers to properly plan the works and execute them in a time-bound manner. The Minister asked for early completion of landscaping, illumination, ablution spots etc so that the project takes off properly.
The Minister also asked concerned to reach out to the people and sensitize them about the programmes implemented by the Government so that they can avail maximum benefits of these programs. The Minister directed the authorities to ensure cleanliness in and around the premises of shrines and to take care of arrangements and treat devotees with care and utmost professionalism during the religious gatherings.

Calls for expediting work for early completion of project

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 02: Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development Social Welfare, Health & Medical Education, Asiea Naqash, convened a meeting to review the progress of the renovation and beautification of Hazratbal shrine project here today. 
          Vice-Chairman Lakes and Waterways Development Authority, Dr AH Shah, SDM Srinagar, Hanief Balkhi, Additional Secretary Tourism, Gulzar Ahmad Shah, M.D Cable Car Corporation and other senior officers attended the meeting.
          During the meeting, Minister discussed various components regarding the beautification of the shrine in detail with the concerned officials to bring about the time bound results. The Minister asked the officials to expedite the work on Rs 45 crore beautification project so that it can be completed within the stipulated period.
          While emphasizing upon augmenting the efforts in removing the bottlenecks, Ms Naqash said timely completion of this project would give a facelift to the shrine and its adjoining areas.
Stressing on meeting the set deadline, the Minister directed the officials to speed up the process of construction so that the basic structure of every component will get ready by the end of this month.
To facilitate the devotees, who throng the shrine in large numbers, she asked the officials to chalk out a comprehensive plan for establishing tensile structures, proper signage, shopping kiosks, ablution places etc.
She called for synergized efforts to follow the original DPR of the shrine project and asked the officials to make optimal use of resources to pace up the work.
          The Minister was informed that the work on ablution centre has already begun and progress on other components is going on in full swing.

          The Minister also took the stock sanitation block which is to be constructed for both men and women devotees.  
          On the occasion, the Minister asked the officials to expedite the work on Rs 45 crore beautification project so that it can be completed within the stipulated period. She stressed upon the officers to redouble their efforts in removing the bottlenecks hindering the pace of the Shrine project. 
          She directed tourism officials to make concerted efforts so that it can become one of the main centres of pilgrimage tourism in the State. Stressing on meeting the set deadline, the Minister directed the officials to complete the project by the end of this year.
           She called for synergized efforts and asked the officials to make optimal use of resources for timely completion of the Hazratbal Shrine project.

          The Minister was accompanied by SDM North Srinagar, Syed Hanif Balkhi, Junior Engineers, SMC officials and other concerned.

          Director Tourism, Managing Director Housing Corporation, Project Manager Shrine project, CEO Wakf Board and other concerned attended the meeting.
          The Minister asked the officials to expedite the work on Rs 45 crore beautification project so that it can be completed within the stipulated period. She stressed upon the officers to redouble their efforts in removing the bottlenecks hindering the pace of the Shrine project.
          Ms Naqash said that the completion of the project will give a much-needed facelift to the revered Shrine and its adjoining areas. She directed tourism officials to make concerted efforts so that it can become one of the main centres of pilgrimage tourism in the State.
          Stressing on meeting the set deadline, the Minister directed the officials to complete the project by the end of this year.
          To facilitate the devotees who throng the shrine in large numbers, she asked the officials to put chalk out a comprehensive programme for establishing mechanized tensile structures for shading and ablution places.

          The Minister was briefed that Ministry of Tourism has released the first installment of Rs 8.40 crore for the implementation of the project.
