SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 4: Sh. S.P. Pani, IGP Kashmir met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan today and briefed him about the internal security situation in the Valley.
Advising close surveillance on all fronts Governor asked Sh. Pani to ensure that his Force plays a prompt and pro-active role in solving the problems faced by the people at large.
Four Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), who were ferrying arms and ammunition from north to south Kashmir, were arrested by police in this summer capital, a top police officer said.

Srinagar, Jul 24 : Four Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), who were ferrying arms and ammunition from north to south Kashmir, were arrested by police in this summer capital, a top police officer said. “We were receiving information for the last one week that some OGWs were ferrying weapons from north Kashmir to south Kashmir through Srinagar, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muneer Ahmad Khan told reporters during a press conference here today. He said the police developed the information following which the vehicle used to ferry weapons was identified. “About four days back, we succeeded in intercepting the vehicle at Tangpora bypass in the outskirts of Srinagar. But, the people present in the vehicle managed to flee the spot. We seized the vehicle and during checking, recovered one magazine,” he said. Mr Khan said some persons present in the vehicle were identified and next day a hunt was launched in the area. “As many as four OGWs were arrested along with an AK 47 rifle,” he said. He said that further investigation has been taken up to nab other people involved in providing logistic support to militants to carry out attacks in Kashmir.  Agencies


SRINAGAR, MAY 22: Sh. Muneer Khan, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today. This was Sh. Khans first meeting with the Governor after taking over charge.
Sh. Khan briefed the Governor about the Internal Security situation in the Valley, particularly in South Kashmir.

Advising close surveillance on all fronts Governor asked Sh. Khan to ensure that his Force plays a prompt and pro-active role in solving the problems faced by the people at large. Governor also asked the IGP to devote special attention to see that the educational schedules of the students are not disrupted under any circumstances and they are immunised from influences which have the potential of vitiating their academic careers.
