New Delhi, Feb 19: Minister for Health and Family Welfare J P Nadda on Monday said India is committed to reforms in health service delivery using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) under Digital India as it has great potential towards improvement of delivery of healthcare services.
Mr Nadda also stressed on the importance for building digital health ecosystem partnerships with private healthcare providers, academia, health IT practitioners, industry, patient groups and regulatory bodies. 
The Minister was addressing at the Global Digital Health Partnership Summit at Canberra, Australia on Monday, an official statement said here.
He informed that there were four major areas where India had implemented digital technology in healthcare. 
“Towards improving health service delivery, towards improving compliance of people towards health and care, engaging citizens in partnering with government for planning and management of health services delivery and Improving governance”, the Minister added.
Speaking about some of the initiatives of the Health Ministry, he said that India’s National Health Portal provides authentic information related to healthcare to citizens.
“Total web users for national health portal till date are over 2.6 million and over 2.2 million calls were made by citizens. Content of the portal is currently available in six Indian languages- and it is planned to add six more languages,” Mr Nadda elaborated.
Those present at the summit were Minister of Health, Australia Greg Hunt, Chief Executive Officer, Australian Digital Health Agency Tim Kelsey, Secretary, Department of Health, Australia Glenys Beauchamp along with delegates from Canada, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, United Kingdom, US and WHO. UNI

New Delhi, Nov 29: India has reduced its new malaria cases by one-third, and even crossed the malaria mortality targets of 2020. 
Stating this, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare J P Nadda told a high-level roundtable on 'Accelerating the Elimination of Malaria in the South-East Asia Region' here on Wednesday that 'with nearly ¾th of the share of the regional burden, India’s successes have significantly contributed to the reduction of the burden of malaria for the entire South-East Asia region.'
This success, he said, had come against the backdrop of the political leadership and support that health programmes received in India. 'The commitment to ensure health for every person in India comes from the highest office of the Government. It is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to see health and development reach to the furthest corners of our country, and use the very latest innovations in technology and implementation science to achieve these outcomes.' 
Health Ministers from countries of South Asia region, heads of country delegations, Dr Poonam 
Khetrapal Singh, Regional Director, WHO South-East Asia Region and Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, WHO, Deputy Director General designate were among those present.
The minister added that the majority of malaria cases in the country came from bordering districts, forest and tribal areas, while most of the remaining parts of the country remained malaria-free. 
'Addressing malaria therefore, is not only an issue for India’s aspiration of achieving universal health coverage, but also achieve it with equity,' he stated.
Reiterating the commitment to eliminate the mosquito-borne disease, Mr Nadda said the focus on the bordering districts and empowering local authorities with information, tools and knowledge will help malaria reductions in India and its neighbors. 
The Union Health Minister added that India as a hub for research and science would also support malaria implementation research, as well as capacity building in health research. UNI

Puducherry, Aug 16 :  Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda has congratulated the Jipmer multi-disciplinary team led by Dr. Dinesh Kumar S, Chief Reconstructive Transplant Surgeon, Dept of Plastic Surgery, which performed a 16-hour surgery to transplant both forearms and hands from a 50 year brain-dead donor to a 16 year-old bilateral below-elbow amputee. According to a Jipmer release here today, Mr Nadda has conveyed his wishes through Twitter as well. On behalf of the Cabinet Minister, his wife Mallika Nadda, visited JIPMER to see the patient who got benefited from this hand transplant. She personally spoke to the patient through Telemedicine Console in the JIPMER Transplant ICU. She also expressed her appreciation towards the surgical team and leadership of Jipmer Director, Prof. S.C. Parija. She sent her personal wishes appreciating the family of Mrs. Rathinambal – the brain-dead donor – who readily came forward to donate the organs of the lady, even though illiterate and from a poor family. It may be noted that Jipmer has performed its first bilateral Cadaveric hand transplantation free of cost on August 2, 2017. It is the first government institution in the country to achieve this milestone. UNI

NEW DELHI, AUGHST 3: Minister for Health and Medical Education, J&K, Bali Bhagat today called on Union Minister for Health Jagat Prakash Nadda here today and discussed the development issues of various health projects in J&K.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education Dr Pawan Kotwal, Secretary Technical and Director General ISM, J&K, Dr Abdul Kabir Dar, Director (P&S) H&ME, M.L Bhagat and other officers from Central government.
During the meeting, a wide range of issues were discussed pertaining to construction of Kathua and Doda Medical college for whidch funds of Rs 51 crore for each project have already been released by the Central Government.
The Minister stated that land has been acquired and DPR for both the projects and BOQ have been completed and the tenders will be floated shortly by PWD (R&B) department which is the executive agency involved in it.
The Minister also appraised the Union Minister regarding the transfer of land for the construction of AIIMS at Jammu and Srinagar.
During the meeting the Minister laid stress on the establishment of a Burn Injuries Unit and that a proposal regarding this has been submitted by the state government with an estimated budget of Rs 4.7 crore. It was decided that the team from the central government will visit the Burn unit site, this month.
The Minister requested the Union Minister to release funds for setting up of the PET scan machine in Jammu Medical College at the earliest, so as to provide adequate facilities to the patients suffering from cancer.
The Union Minister assured full support from the Central Government and asked the state Government to complete all modalities regarding making available land and ancillary facilities for the prestigious projects of AIIMS at Jammu and Srinagar.
The state Minister expressed his gratitude to the union Minister for his support and to the proposal submitted by J&K regarding Health Sector.
