KARGIL,
JUNE 01: Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor Kargil,
Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, today held a meeting with a team of scientists from the
Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) who were on a seven-day
visit of Kargil and Leh districts in connection with the establishment of
ultra mega solar power projects in the twin districts.
Executive
Councilor for Rural Development Aga Syed Hassan Armaan Mosavi, Executive
Councilor for Health Muhammad Hussain, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Vikas Kundal,
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil Imteeaz Kacho, Project Director KREDA
Kacho Ahmad Khan, representatives of KREDA and Jammu and Kashmir Power
Development Department (JKPDD) were also present in the meeting.
During
the meeting, the team informed the CEC that as per the MoU signed between the
Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Science and Technology Ministry
of Jammu and Kashmir in 2014, 2500 Mega Watt solar power project is to be
established in Kargil and 5000 Mega Watt in Leh district.
The
team members apprised the meeting that during their recent survey in the
district an overall assessment with
regard to the availability and feasibility of land, grid position, line
position and other aspects have been made at Tai Suru, Padum and Lungnaq areas
of Zanskar Sub Division which has flat as well as slanted patches of land
facing south direction with minimal shadow issues and quite ideal for
establishment of mega solar power plants.
It
was given out in the meeting that 8 kms land stretch at Zangla, 2 kms at
Tsazar, 4 kms at Shanak Thang Tsazar, 7 kms from Stongday to Tsazar, 2 kms at
Tambuk Thang Zangla, 4x4 kms stretch from Haftal to Salapi, 8 kms from Karsha
to Rinam and 8 kms stretch at Ufti Thang has been identified by the team for
setting up of varied capacities of solar plants.
Moreover,
patches of land measuring 18 kms from Tashi Stongday to Shaqqar at Rangdum, 6
kms from Shaqqar to Shafat and 12 kms from Kuru to Kargyak have also been
identified, the team members said.
The
CEC while expressing his gratitude to the team to have conducted a thorough survey
of the potential areas in the district assured them all out help from the Hill
Council for the establishment of the solar power plants in the district.
He
expressed hope that the establishment of these solar plants will go a long way
in making the district self-sufficient in terms of power requirements.
Kacho
directed the team to furnish the details of the identified land stretches to
the Deputy Commissioner Kargil so as to examine their ownership status.
While
stressing upon the team to incorporate local requirements and aspirations
during the formulation of the solar projects, he suggested for working out
timelines for proper execution and completion in a time bound manner with a
focus on compensatory landscaping and employment opportunities to the locals.
Issues
with regard to the provision of power from the projects in the district as well
as evacuation of power to other parts of the state and country also came up for
discussion.
The
CEC also stressed on the early start of work on the 7 MW Solar Power Project
under PMDP for which land measuring 200 kanals has already been transferred to
KREDA.

Energy Corporation of India (SECI) Debajyoti Bordoloi, Project Director Ladakh
Renewable Energy Development Agency (LREDA) Tsewang Thinlas and other concerned
officers were also present in the meeting.
