 RAJOURI MARCH 07: In a major anti-encroachment drive, a team of officers today retrieved over 12 Kanal Government land here in Koteranka town.
The encroached land estimated to cost Rs 4.50 Cr was retrieved after 6 hour long operation. Around 13 illegal Structures raised on 1 Kanal 11 Marla land were also demolished. The prime land belonged to sheep husbandry and Auqaf department.  
The team was led by ADDC A S Chib along with huge contingent of police force and fleet of machines started the operation  11amand removed the encroachment on the land by 5:30PM.  
 A total of 13 structures were removed which include 7 houses and 6 shops.  Earlier, a team of revenue officers had demarcated the encroached land. Based on demarcation eviction notices were served to the occupants by the Addl DC.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered against encroachers, while process to initiate disciplinary action was started against officials who failed to  protect the prime government property.

The operation was conducted under supervision of Deputy Commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary.
The  district  administration  has  planned similar drives   in Rajouri , Kalakote, Darhal  Sunderbani and other areas to retrieve encroached state land. The departments have done preliminary mapping and demarcation to execute the drive.


Inaugurates wrestling competition
RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 27: The District Development Commissioner Rajouri Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today conducted extensive tour of Koteranka subdivision and inspected pace of progress on various key developmental projects.
The DC took detailed review of progress at all construction sites and instructed the concerned executing agencies to expedite the pace of work for timely completion of the projects.
The DC visited Patli Qila and inspected ongoing work of Eco-Tourism Park being developed over 300 kanal area in convergence of Tourism and Rural Development Department schemes. 
The DDC inspected progress on different compartments of the eco-park including children amusement park, Botanical garden, herbal garden, cactus garden, water reservoir, landscaping and residential log huts.
He directed the executing agencies to coordinate with other line departments for plantation of ornamental saplings, flowers, plants etc.
Dr. Shahid also took stock of the work on the indoor stadium and playfield at government higher secondary school Koteranka.
Later the DDC inspected pace of work on upcoming revenue complex, community health center and Degree College in Budhal. The PWD was directed to hand over the academic and administrative block of the college building by ending October and library block by ending November this year.  He also met local delegations and listened to their demands. 
A delegation of college students emphatically demanded introduction of science subjects in the college for which they have to go to Rajouri or Jammu.   
Earlier, the DC inaugurated a wrestling (Dangal) competition at Kotranka Town. In his address, the DDC called upon the youth to actively participate in sports to achieve physical and mental development. He said the youth of the region have immense potential and talent in wrestling and the district administration will soon establish a wrestling academy where wrestlers will be trained for national and international competitions.
