Shimla, Sep 18: A 35-year-old man was arrested with two leopard skins in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla district, police said Tuesday.

Santokh Singh, a resident of Pumlaai in Kumarsain, was arrested Monday night from Rampur tehsil in the district, Superintendent of Police (SP), Shimla, Omapati Jamwal said.

Two leopard skins were seized from him, he said.

Jamwal said a case was registered against Singh at the Rampur police station under relevant provisions of the Wild Life (Protection) Act.

The matter is being investigated, the SP said.

Rishikesh, Jul 10: A man-eater leopard killed a person at a village in Raiwala area near Motichur range of Rajaji Tiger Reserve (RTR), an official said.

The half-eaten body of 56-year-old Surat Singh Negi was found this morning from a forest surrounding Pratit Nagar village, adjacent to Motichur range of RTR, he said.

It seems the man was killed after being dragged into the forest late last night by the big cat, Director, RTR, Sanatan Sonkar said.

According to Sonkar, Negi is the 21st victim of the leopard which has unleashed terror among residents of the area killing one person after another over the past three years.

The same leopard had killed a 5-year-old girl in Thakurpur village of Raiwala area on June 14 after ambushing her in the courtyard of her home, he said.

Bahraich (UP), Jun 30: A 55 year-old woman was killed after a leopard attacked her in a village near Katarniyaghat wildlife sanctuary here, police said.

Phoolkesari had come out of her house for some work yesterday in Badlupurva Karikot village near the Nishanghada range of the santuary when the leopard, hiding nearby, attacked her, they said.

Even as she raised an alarm, the leopard dragged her in the forest and before the locals could arrive she died, they said, adding that the body was sent for post-mortem examination.

Nizamabad, May 11: A Leopard was killed when an unidentified vehicle hit the big cat on the 44th National Highway, of Indalwai Mandal in this district early on Friday.
According to Nizamabad Divisional Forest Officer NSNV Prasad, the incident occurred when the leopard was crossing the road. The Leopard aged in between 3-4 years died on the spot.
Forest Range Officer Subhash Chandra who reached the spot sent the body of Leopard to the hospital for post-mortem. UNI
