Kishtwar, July 04  :   District Development Commissioner, Angrez Singh Rana today chaired a meeting of concerned officers and finalized arrangements for upcoming annual holy Machail Mata yatra.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kishtwar, Mohammad Hanief Malik, Addl. SP Kishtwar Nasir Ahmed, Joint Director Planning Mohammad Iqbal, ACD Kishtwar, Anil Kumar Chandail, SDM Paddar Varunjeet Charak, XEN PMGSY, XEN PDD, XEN PHE, Tehsildars, District and Sectoral Officers besides representatives of religious organisations.

The DDC took detailed review of arrangements made by different departments /agencies for hassle free yatra commencing from July 25, 2019 to 5th of September 2019.

The DDC exhorted upon the concerned departments to ensure availability of potable drinking water, electricity, fire wood, telecommunication services, mobile banking facilities, toilet facility, foolproof security, transport, and other essential commodities. He directed to install hoardings at suitable places from Jammu to Machail.

SDM Paddar was directed to ensure overall supervision and monitoring of cleanliness including strict implementation of ban on use of polythene enroute from Gulabgarh to Machail with active coordination of Police department.

SDM Padder was further directed to install dustbins on Kundail to Machail stretch besides suitable places at Gulabgarh.

To check overloading in commercial vehicles during the Yatra period, the DDC asked the Police, Traffic department, ARTO and concerned Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar to keep strict vigil and take strict action against the defaulters.

It was informed that this year per passenger airfare for one way journey from Gulabgarh to Machail has been fixed at Rs. 2,270 and from Kishtwar to Gulabgarh Rs. 4, 000. The fare for children below 2 years will not be charged.

Jammu, Aug 21: A vehicle carrying pilgrims to a temple, skidded off the road and fell into the Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district, killing 11 people with a five-year-old child being the only survivor, police said.

The incident took place when they were going to the Mata Machail temple in the district.

"A vehicle carrying pilgrims to the Machail Mata temple rolled down and fell into the Chenab river, around 28 km from Kishtwar, in the Padder belt area today," Jammu and Kashmir DGP S P Vaid told.

During the rescue operation 11 bodies were recovered. The only survivor is a five-year-old child, he said, adding that the child is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The description of the vehicle and the gender of the child are yet to be known.

This is the second major accident in Kishtwar district in the past 24 hours.

Yesterday, seven people, including a policeman, were killed and 12 others injured after two vehicles came under a landslide in the district.

The incident took place at Kulligad on the Doda-Kishtwar road.

Huge boulders and debris suddenly came down from a hill burying a mini-bus and a car plying on the Doda-Kishtwar road, Senior Superintendent of Police Rajinder Kumar Gupta had said. (PTI)

BHADERWAH, AUGUST 18:- The historical Machail Paddar Yatra commenced today from its base camp Temple of Chandi mata at village chanote in Bhaderwah.
The yatra started on August 18 and will culminate on August 25. More than 5000 pilgrims are undertaking the yatra.
The yatra started from chandi Mandir at village Chanote Bhaderwah where devotees from various parts of the state as well as from other parts of country assembled and left for Machail padder in Kishtwar District amidst chanting of Bhajans and religious sermons in a cavalcade of Buses, Matadors, Sumos and cars etc.
MLA Daleep Singh Parihar and MLC Bhaderwah Naresh Kumar Gupta accompanied by CEO BDA Bal Krishan, ASP Shahzad Salaria, SDPO Barjesh Sharma, Tehsildar Masood Ahmed, SHO and others tehsil officers  besides large number of local people accorded a warm send off to the pilgrims.
The yatra will cover a distance of 175 KM of hilly track to reach the holy shrine of Goddess Chandi in Machail Padder. After performing religious rites there, it will start its return journey from Machail and will reach Bhaderwah on 25 August.
The District Administration of twin districts of Doda and Kishtwar have made all arrangements related to health care, drinking water, temporary toilets, electricity, transportation, and other amenities enroute the yatra.

KISHTWAR, JULY 14: ​In wake of the upcoming annual  Machail Yatra commencing from August 18, 2017 to the holy Shrine Mata Chandi Machail, a meeting to finalize the arrangement were convened by Deputy Commissioner, Ghulam Nabi Balwan today.
​SSP, Sandeep Wazir, ADC Kishori Lal Sharma, CPO, Yasir Balwan, Commandent 9 Sector RR ,ACR, ACD, SDM Paddar, Tehsildar Paddar, Machail, Dhrabshalla, Negsani, OC GREF and other District Officers of KDA, NHPC, CRPF, CISF, Forest, PWD (R&B) PMGSY, PHE, PDD, Medical, Education, Traffic, Cooperative, Information, CAPD, Fire Services , Legal Metrology, BSNL, Municipal, Drug and Safety Officer  besides President Sanathan Dharam Sabha and  member of Serva Shakti Sevak Sanstha attend the meeting.
 In the meeting, the members of the Sanstha apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the schedule of the yatra which will start from July 25, 2017 and langer facilities for the devotees that will start functioning at various places.
     The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to ensure fool proof security besides ensuring availability of drinking water, electricity, street lights, firewood, gas cylinder, ration supply, electric generator, medical facilities and telephone facilities at every halt, ambulance, fire extinguishers, temporary toilets facilities and sufficient number of vehicles for the devotees’ upto the Gulabgarh Paddar.

​GREF authorities were asked to immediately repair the road upto Gulabgarh while XEN PWD (R&B) was directed to repair the path and short bridges from Gulabgarh to Machail Shrine.

Jammu, June 20: The rates for helicopter services from Gulabgarh to Machail and back have been substantially reduced for the upcoming Machail Yatra scheduled to be held from August 1st to 31st.

Pilgrims who are above 12 yrs of age  shall have to pay Rs. 1550 while the pilgrims aged between 2 to 12 years shall have to pay Rs 1400 whereas the child up to two years shall be flown free of cost by these Operators. It is worthwhile to mention here that the fares during the present year are the lowest since the inception of Heli Services for this Yatra. During the year 2016, the tariff per ticket per side was Rs 2000. In 2015 the tariff was Rs. 2400 per ticket and the year 2014, every ticket cost Rs.2700/-. This reduction in tariff will surely be a source of satisfaction for the pilgrims by the heli travel on this long journey becoming for more affordable than the previous years.

Pertinent to mention that in order to finalise heli tenders for 2017 Yatra Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr M.K.Bhandari had constituted a Committee to evaluate and finalise award of contract to helicopter operators for Shri Machail Mata Yatra 2017. Six helicopter companies participated in the tender process. M/s Pawan hans Ltd. and M/s UTair India Pvt. Ltd who have been awarded contract through a transparent bidding process, shall be operating their helicopters to ferry pilgrims from Gulabgarh to Machail and back.

The heli services have been offered by the Government to facilitate the pilgrims in the rough and difficult terrain of Kishtwar valley. It will be easy for the old age, children and even sick people to pay obeisance to the Holy deity. It will also help in relief and rescue operations in case of any emergency.

The Operators have been finalised through a transparent tender process duly evaluated and finalised by the Committee comprising of Commissioner Civil Aviation, J&K, S. Katoch, Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, G.N. Balwan, Additional Commissioner, Jammu, Anu Radha Rani, Deputy CEO, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Amit Vermani and District Treasury Officer, Kishtwar, Irfan Majid.
