New Delhi, Mar 7: Janhvi Kapoor, daughter of legendary actress Sridevi, has organised a quiet celebration of her 21st birthday at an old age home, as a mark of tribute to her late mother. 
In the evening of her birthday on Tuesday, Janhvi held a private dinner with 'Kapoor and daughter' at her residence, which was attended by several family members including cousin Sonam Kapoor.
On this occasion, Sonam Kapoor took to social media to write a heart-warming note to Janhvi to wish her on the special day. "To one of the strongest girls I know, who became a woman today. Happy birthday Jannu,' Sonam wrote on Instagram. UNI


Los Angeles, Mar 5: The Oscars paid tributes to legendary actor Shashi Kapoor and iconic actress Sridevi.
Sridevi, who died this month and Shashi Kapoor, who died in December, 2017, were honoured in the 'in Memoriam' segment of the 60th Academy awards held here on Sunday night.
The 'In Memoriam' section acts as a tribute to the film world’s great and good who have passed away .
In a tribute to Sridevi, George Romero described her as a 'Bollywood star who was India’s lover, friend and mum'.
Also remembered in the segment were actor Roger Moore, Jonathan Demme and horror legend George Romero. UNI


Mumbai, Feb 28: Sridevi's final journey began with a decorated truck carrying the iconic actor's mortal remains to the Vile Parle's crematorium, where the final rites and cremation will take place soon. 
The mortal remains were wrapped in tricolour and accorded state honours.
The actor, who passed away at the age of 54, will be cremated with full state honours, for which the arrangements have been made by the state government.
As Sridevi's favourite colour was 'white', keeping her wish, the truck was fully decorated with white flowers.
Boney Kapoor, Anil Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor were present in the truck.
Meanwhile, thousands of her fans paid their last respects to the iconic actor. UNI



Mumbai, Feb 28: Thousands of fans and Bollywood actors are pouring into Mumbai's Celebration Sports Club to pay last respects to film icon Sridevi, who died on Saturday in Dubai. 
The funeral will be held at 1530 hrs.
Long queues were seen outside the Celebration Sports Club.
Nearly 200 policemen have been posted at the spot and a police band are deployed in honour of Sridevi, who was a recipient of the Padma Shree award. 
People have come from as far as Karnataka and Chennai to catch a last glimpse of the actor, who had ruled Bollywood and the southern cinema over her five-decade-long career.
Issuing a statement from her family yesterday, had asked people to join them to pay respects to the "remarkable actor, beloved wife and loving mother" between 0930 hrs to 1230 hrs. 
Now, the police have closed the gate, which was opened for her fans to take 'Antim Darshan', (pay respect) so it was high time for police to control the fans, sources said.
Her last journey would begin from the club to the crematorium, around 7 km away, near Pawan Hans, Vile Parle West at 1400 hrs. 
The last rites will take place at 1530 pm onwards, the statement said.
Since morning, the film fraternity from Bollywood and southerns superstars including Kamal Haasan, who worked with her had gathered to meet the family.
Several celebrities Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Jaya Prada, Sushmita Sen, Madhuri Dixit, Sridevi's niece Sonam Kapoor, Tabu, Kajol and others visited to pay their respects.
Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan today postponed the recording of his song of his upcoming film, 102 and Rani Mukerjee avoided launch of new song of 'Hichki', sources said. UNI



New Delhi, Feb 27: Actor Arjun Kapoor, son of filmmaker Boney Kapoor, on Tuesday left for Dubai to assist his father in overseeing formalities for the return of the body of Bollywood actress Sridevi to India.
According to a statement released by Yashraj Films, "Arjun has gone to Dubai this morning to be with his father at the hotel while the formalities are being wrapped up and to oversee the return journey. We will keep you posted with further updates when we receive more information from the family."
Arjun leaving for Dubai comes amid speculation about him not having a cordial relationship with his stepmother. 
Contrary to all the reports, Arjun in a recent TV show, revealed that he shared a cordial relationship with her. 
When asked if he held anything against Sridevi. he had stated, "I am sure I've had various degrees of emotions against her (Sridevi) and him (Boney Kapoor). I only look forward. I try make it a point not to dwell on what could have, what should have."
"Its very cordial. I respect anybody in my father's life the same way because he would expect me to do that. So I respect her and don't wish ill towards anyone. That's how I follow," added Arjun. 
Actress Sridevi died on Sunday morning, leaving the entire nation in shock.
The repatriation of her body to India has suffered an inordinate delay due to the investigations into her death by the Dubai police authorities. UNI


New Delhi, Feb 27: In a massive twist to the death of noted actress Sridevi, BJP leader Dr Subramanian Swamy has questioned the reported version of Dubai Police that the filmstar died of "accidental drowning" in her hotel bathtub.
"It is very difficult to die and drown in a bathtub unless somebody pushed you or prevent you from breathing," Dr Swamy told Times Now.
Dr Swamy said he knew Sridevi as a concerned person about her health and that she "never touched hard drinks".
"Let's wait for the prosecution to pronounce it. Facts in media do not appear to be consistent," he said questioned the rationale behind earlier claims about heart failure leading to Sridevi's death and now the version of "accidental drowning".
Dr Swamy also referred to the Bollywood's "illicit relation" with Dubai gangs suggesting such a scenario only raises questions about the manner the famous actress had to breath her last.
Senior politician Amar Singh also said no one from the family of Sridevi's husband Boney Kapoor have said that filmstar died of cardiac arrest. UNI


New Delhi, Feb 26: Bollywood 90s diva Sridevi, whose sudden death in Dubai on Sunday left the entire nation in a state of shock, spent her last moments with her husband and filmmaker Boney kapoor, a Gulf daily has reported.
A source recounted her final moments to the Gulf daily.
The source said that Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi Kapoor had returned to India after attending Mohit Marwah and Antra Motiwala’s wedding ceremony. 
The veteran actress had stayed back to spend time with her sister Srilatha, as per reports. 
Sridevi had checked into Emirates Towers. 
After attending Manmohan Shetty's dinner in Mumbai, Boney Kapoor returned to Dubai on Saturday to surprise Sridevi. 
According to the report in the newspaper, Boney Kapoor reached her hotel at 1730 hrs and woke her up and invited her for dinner. 
Sridevi, who was resting when Boney arrived, chatted with him for 15 minutes post which she went to the washroom.
However, when his wife did not come out after 15 minutes, a worried Boney Kapoor knocked on the door. 
When he got no response, he forced open the door only to find her motionless in a bath tub.
“He tried to revive her and when he could not, he called a friend of his. After that, he informed the police at 9pm,” the report said.
Police and doctors arrived and took her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Srivedi's sudden death has left cinegoers, the Mumbai film industry and the entire Nation in a state of shock.
After post-mortem, her body is expected to be flown to India on Monday evening. UNI


New Delhi, Feb 7: A fan of legendary superstar Sridevi has opened a restaurant in Chennai, which pays a tribute to the actress’ work, trade sources said on Wednesday.
The restaurant features more than 100 dishes named after Sridevi's films. It includes dish names based on her south and Hindi films, sources said.
'When the fan approached Sridevi with the concept, the actress, was taken aback. She was surprised to see a menu card dedicated to her work,' sources said.
'The fan has extended a special invite to the actress to inaugurate his restaurant. He wants her to be the first person to bless his place. He will be putting up a huge poster of her at the entrance of the restaurant,' sources added.
On the work front, Sridevi, who was last seen in 'Mom', is yet to announce her next project. UNI
