KUPWARA, MAY 25: District Development Commissioner Kupwara Khalid Jahangir today chaired an interactive session regarding promotion of organic farm practices at grass-root level in the district.
 Among others, officers from Agriculture and Horticulture departments, Animal Husbandry, Chief Planning Officer Kupwara and farmers of the district attended the interactive session.
DC Kupwara suggested that an action plan shall be prepared to include cultivation, processing, storage and marketing of organic vegetables and fruits on a pilot basis in five villages viz. Dedikote, Hajinar, Hatmulla, Khumriyal and Trehgam. He said that this can be replicated in other areas provided rich dividends in days ahead.
The chair while being apprised by the farmers present of various issues regarding organic farming, suggestions including application of organic fertilizers to enhance production, spreading awareness among people on the health benefits of organic vegetables and the consequences of consuming pesticide content vegetables, double cropping to ensure adequate supply of food for humans and fodder for domestic animals were put forth. The farmers demanded desilting of streams for smooth flow of water required for irrigation, vermicompost units for production of organic fertilizers and conducting of awareness campaigns to encourage farmers to adopt organic farming as a viable cost-effective environmental friendly alternative.
 DDC said that Kupwara with the abundance of walnut trees has every potential to utilize natural resources like these for economic upliftment. "Woodcarving, one of the traditional art forms for which Valley is famous all over the world, can be adopted as a sustainable employment opportunity by the people of the district" he added. While responding to the issues raised by farmers present, DC suggested high-density walnut plantation as an effective method towards harvesting rich dividends from this sector.



          KUPWARA, APRIL 27: District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir convened a meeting today to review the performance under SBM (Gramin) in the meeting here today.
          Assistant Commissioner Development, Yaar Ali Khan informed the meeting regarding the progress of Swachh Bharat Mission in the district.
          Threadbare discussions were held on various aspects of the Mission including updation of Base Line Server, MIS under SBM, Geo Tagging under SBM, ODF under Panchayats, status of the pendency of IHHL units and overall achievements under SBM.
          The DDC comprehensively reviewed Panchayat wise performance of blocks under SBM and directed concerned for completion of all pending works within the stipulated time frame.
          DDC emphasized upon the BDOs of the concerned blocks to ensure 100 percent coverage under Geo-Tagging and directed them for regular monitoring of Panchayats to ensure infrastructure upgradation under SBM.
          Among others, Social Welfare Officer Mumtaz Ahmad Pir, EO Kupwara and Langate, BDOs, Health officials, besides JEEs, technical experts, and field functionaries attended the meeting.



KUPWARA, APRIL 26:    Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Khalid Jahangir today inaugurated U- 19 boys football tournament at Model BHSS Kupwara.  All the winning teams at Zonal level will participate in the tournament that will conclude on April 28.
Meanwhile, "Let's Play Football" competitions an initiative under   "Khelo India” by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, GoI is in progress in the district. The tournament is being organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports. In the first phase of the Competition conducted at Zonal Level 3497 students, both boys and girls of different age groups participated at their respective Zonal headquarters. The Second phase (Inter-Zonal District Level) competition commenced from 23rd April at BHSS Kupwara & BHSS Trehgam in which 1072 both boys & girls of various age groups are participating.
Speaking on the occasion DC Kupwara highlighted the significance of games and Sports towards building a strong nation and exhorted participants to compete by imbibing principles of true sportsmanship.



 KUPWARA, APRIL 25: DDC Kupwara Khalid Jahangir today visited Trehgam to take account of the developmental works being undertaken by various departments.
 DDC was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Development Kupwara, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, District Social Welfare Officer, CMO, CEO, district and sectoral heads and other concerned.  
During his interaction with the locals, demand for repair of a water reservoir at Trehgam was raised for which on spot directions were issued to the PHE department to undertake the necessary measures without any dilly-dallying for affording the residents of the area access to safe and clean drinking water.
During his visit, DDC inspected various works undertaken including upgradation of infrastructure for proper utilization of Spring at Trehgam, repair and beautification of Jamia Masjid and Temple at Trehgam and directed RDD and Floriculture to ensure that both these works are done within stipulated time. 
DDC also inspected the playground at Trehgam, interacted with the youth present, offered patient hearing to their aspirations, encouraged them with examples of various sportspersons of the valley bringing laurels and ensured them all possible cooperation from district administration for their bright future.
DDC also inspected the PHC building and directed the concerned department to accelerate the pace of work and ensure completion of the building by 15th May so that it could be functionalized as soon as possible for the benefit of the people.
People demanded macadamisation of inner links in Trehgam and widening of Kupwara- Kralpora road for better connectivity with the towns. DDC urged people to remove structures from the roadside and directed the concerned departments to finalize assessment for compensation against land being acquired and expedite payment to the beneficiaries so that the said work could be undertaken at an earliest and completed during this fiscal year for the convenience of the people.
Meanwhile, DDC directed officials to ensure that grievances are heard and redressed on priority, cooperation and coordination ensured and responsible, the accountable and responsive administration made visible on the ground.



KUPWARA, MARCH 12: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara today chaired a meeting to finalize stamp duty rates for the year 2018-19.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kupwara, tehsildars, Executive, Officers of Municipal Committee Handwara and Kupwara, and other concerned were present.
It was given out that the District Level Committee has finalized the data collection about prevailing market rates of land and property and will furnish the same to the Divisional level committee for finalization of rates so that acquisition of land for various developmental projects in the district is accelerated for the welfare of the people.



        
  KUPWARA, MARCH 02: A meeting to discuss revision of stamp duty rates for district Kupwara was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara in his office chamber.
          The meeting among others was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kupwara, Executive Engineers R & B Division Kupwara and Handwara, DFOs, DFO social Forestry, officials of Municipal Committee Handwara and Kupwara, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Agriculture officer and Tehsildars.
          It was informed that the Sub- Divisional Level Committees have to collect data about prevailing market rates of land and property and furnish the same to the District Level Committee for consideration and making of appropriate recommendation to the Divisional Commissioner for finalization of same rates.
 The Deputy Commissioner directed all the Sub District Level Committees to immediately finalize their reports after taking into consideration all the parameters and latest sale deed registered including prevailing market rate in their respective areas.
          He also directed the Subdivision Committee to bring the stamp duty rates as far as possible in alignment with market value rate so that process of land acquisition for various developmental activities does not get delayed due to various issues. The SubDivision Level Committees were directed to furnish the report by 5th of March so that the recommendation District Level Committee are concertized and formulated to the Divisional Valuation Board within the stipulated time frame.



KUPWARA, DECEMBER 11: The Deputy Commissioner Kupwara today directed all the district and sectoral officers not to sanction leave in favour of any officer keeping recent weather advisory issued by Metrological Department in mind.
The Met department has predicted snowfall and rains from 11th-15thDecember 2017.

The DC has said that leave if any, sanctioned already shall be cancelled and all employees and officials are directed to remain stationed at their respective headquarters. He said that special care may be taken to ensure that employees and officials of various departments shall remain physically stationed at their respective headquarters in remote and far-flung areas. He further added that no district and the sectoral officer shall leave the station without prior permission from his office.
 The Deputy Commissioner Kupwara today convened a meeting of officials of revenue sector to review the matters related to jamabandi, girdawari, land acquisition/requisition, maintaining of daily dairy, mutations, report under Rabi and Kharif  girdawari , illegal encroachment  from state land, removal of under illegal occupation of state land and status of Roshni Act through the revenue officials within the stipulated time frame.

          KUPWARA, JULY 25: The Deputy Commissioner Kupwara today convened a meeting of officials of revenue sector to review the matters related to jamabandi, girdawari, land acquisition/requisition, maintaining of daily dairy, mutations, report under Rabi and Kharif  girdawari , illegal encroachment  from state land, removal of under illegal occupation of state land and status of Roshni Act through the revenue officials within the stipulated time frame.
          The chair was appraised by the Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kupwara about the work regarding the Girdawari, Roznaamcha, and other revenue matters done from 2014 till date.

          The Deputy Commissioner impressed upon the concerned officials to work with added zeal and dedication and take all necessary steps to ease the problems of the local people at their level. He also directed to complete the pendency within next 15 days through involving the village level field functionaries like namberdars and chowkidars to settle the pending cases in Revenue camps under their jurisdiction.

          KUPWARA, JUNE 05:   Khalid Jahangir today took the charge of District Development Commissioner Kupwara.

After assuming the charge he interacted with the district officers in an introductory meeting and urged them to work with full dedication for the welfare and betterment of the people of the district.

The DDC said timely completion of the ongoing development works, execution of pending projects, welfare schemes and resolving public grievances and issues would remain on priority. He also conducted a visit to various sections of the DDC Office Kupwara.

Earlier, the senior officers of the district administration accorded warm welcome to the new District Development Commissioner Kupwara at DC Office Complex. A few deputations also called on the new DDC, after he assumed the charge.
