Lucknow, Feb 22: Railway Minister Piyush Goel on Thursday announced several sops for Uttar Pradesh at Investor summit with converting the Dudhwa-Lakhimpur meter gauge rail line as an international heritage destination, setting up a rail refurbishment factory in Jhansi and a rail auxiliary park in Fatehpur.
The minister also announced that the capacity of the rail coach factory at Lalganj in Rae Bareli district producing 600-700 coaches per year at present will be increased to 3000 coaches per annum in the next three years. Besides the long pending announcement to set up a electric Loco shed in Gorakhpur would be taken up in a war footing.
The announcements were made by Mr Goel during a session on ease of doing business at the Investor summit in presence of UP Chief Minister Yogi Aditnayath.
The Railway Minister said that the present meter gauge track between Dudhwa and Lakhimpur Kheri on the Bhariach-Shahjahanpur route would be replaced with new track and coaches, it will be identified as a heritage rail to attract foreign tourists. 
"Railways will also construct a 5-star accommodation for the tourists in Lakhimpur Kheri too," he said. 
Talking about the refurbishment factory in Jhansi, he said that it would be set up in 300 acres of land. 
"This Jhansi unit, will start functioning within 2 years, would be unique in sense as it will refurbish general class coaches, as till date only upper class coaches were refurbished by the railways," he said.
"The Fatehpur auxiliary park would support the railways in supplying all the auxiliary items required by the department from time to time," he said. UNI
