KATHUA, MAY 29: District Development Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar, today chaired a meeting of district officers and civil society members to discuss arrangements for smooth conduct of annual Yatra of Shri Amarnath Ji.
The DDC laid focus on making fool proof security arrangements and directed concerned officials to install CCTVs at langar sites and other vital locations in the district, besides conduct round the clock patrolling. He called for installing water coolers at Lakhanpur and other important spots on the National Highway.
The meeting discussed issues related to sanitation, supply of LPG cylinders at langar sites, readiness of fire tender and contingency plan in case of eventuality was also discussed in detail.   
It was informed that 8 sites have been identified in the district for lodging of yatris with all necessary facilities.
A Coordination Committee was also constituted for keeping a check on quality and rates of eatables in the market besides ensuring hygiene and cleanliness at Langar and accommodation sites.
It was decided that a control room would be established at Lakahnpur to synchronize efforts for providing all basic services to the pilgrims.  The meeting further decided to deploy well equipped medical teams at Lakhanpur and langar sites besides establishment of facilitation center for the convenience of yatris.

Earlier, the DDC listened to the suggestions of social organizations and civil society members regarding providing better arrangements for the yatris.
