SRINAGAR, AUGUST 10: A delegation of leading contractors who worked for the Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2017, led by Haji Wazir Mohammad Zara, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.
 The delegation apprised the Governor about their experiences in regard to recently concluded Yatra and offered suggestions for further improvements to the tracks and the work required to be done for the next year’s Yatra.

 Governor appreciated the dedication with which the contractors supported Yatra 2017 and hoped that they would continue their strong involvement with the success of the pilgrimage.

Jammu, Aug 5 :  Last batch of 89 Shri Amarnath pilgrims today left from Yatri Niwas base camp here for the holy cave shrine in South Kashmir. Chanting 'bam bam bhole', the pilgrims, comprising 37 males, 15 females and 37 sadhus, left in a cavalcade of four vehicles early this morning. Pilgrims left for Pahalgam and Baltal to perform the pilgrimage in four vehicles, including one Light Motor Vehicles and three buses. ‘’The Yatra is smoothly progressing on the highway," a police official here said. The 40-day long Amarnath yatra will conclude on August 7 on the occasion of Rakshabandhan with traditional prayers at the cave shrine. UNI

Jammu, Aug 4 :  A small batch of 132 Shri Amarnath pilgrims today left from Yatri Niwas base camp here for the holy cave shrine in South Kashmir. Chanting 'bam bam bhole', the pilgrims, comprising 113 males and 19 females, left in a cavalcade of five vehicles early this morning. The pilgrims left for Pahalgam and Baltal to perform the pilgrimage in five vehicles including three Light Motor Vehicles and two buses. ‘’The Yatra is smoothly heading on the highway," a police official here said. Meanwhile Inspector General of Police Jammu Zone S D Singh Jamwal said that last batch of pilgrims will leave tomorrow from the base camp here. The 40-day long Amarnath yatra will conclude on August 7 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan with traditional prayers at the cave shrine. UNI

Srinagar, Aug 4:  Pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas was progressing smoothly as fresh batches left Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps early this morning. So far, over 2.60 lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance at the cave shrine since the commencement of the 40-day-long yatra from June 29 from both the shortest Baltal and traditional Pahalgam tracks, a yatra official told . Meanwhile, on the 36th day of the 40-day-long yatra yesterday, 813 yatris paid obeisance, he said, adding that 132 yatris, including 13 women, left Bagwati Nagar, Jammu, base camp in five vehicles for Baltal and Pahalgam base camps under tight security arrangements early this morning. Mahant Deependra Giri said the Chhari Mubarak, the holy silver mace of Lord Shiva, will leave Pahalgam in the afternoon for Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on traditional route, on way to the holy cave, where final pujan will be held on August 7, the day when the annual yatra will conclude. Pilgrimage was going on smoothly as the weather was pleasant though the number of yatris was very less. Pilgrims, who had night halt at Panjtarni also left for the holy shrine early this morning. About 120 yatris had darshan at the cave shrine since this morning while others are on way to cover the about two km distance on foot. With this, a total of over 2.60 lakh yatris, including women and sadhus from different parts of the country, has had darshan of the self made ice-shivlingam at the cave shrine so far. The official said that a fresh batch of yatris also left Baltal base camp for the cave shrine early this morning. The pilgrims are expected to reach the cave shrine, situated at 14,000 feet, in the afternoon after covering 14 km hilly terrain on foot. Meanwhile, majority pilgrims who took traditional Pahalgam track to reach the cave shrine are also returning via shortest Baltal track. Similarly, fresh batch of pilgrims, who had a night halt at Nunwan Pahalgam base camp, have left for Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on the traditional track. Srinagar, Aug 3 : A fresh batch of 813 yatries today paid obeisance at the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas, where the pilgrimage is going on smoothly though the number of pilgrims had dropped.
  A yatra official told  that today on the 36th day of the 40-day-long Yatra 813 Yatris paid obeisance at the Holy Cave.
  With this a total of 2,57,589 Yatris had darshan at the Holy Cave since the commencement of the pilgrimage from June 29 from both shortest Baltal and traditional Pahalgam routes.UNI

Jammu, Aug 3 : As many as 237 pilgrims today left from here to perform Buddha Amarnath pilgrimage in Poonch district while small batch of 205 pilgrims left for holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnath in South of Kashmir. An official said that 199 males, 38 females left for Poonch to pay obeisance at Buddha Amarnath. Meanwhile, 205 pilgrims, comprising 138 male and 29 females, also left for Shri Amarnath Cave Shrine from here in six vehicles. Security personnel escorted the convoy of yatra to their destinations. Srinagar, Aug 2 :  Pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas was continuing smoothly despite tense situation in the valley, where separatists had called for a strike today. Meanwhile, a lowest of 132 yatris, including 34 women and some sadhus, left Bagwati Nagar, Jammu base camp in five vehicles for Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps in Kashmir early this morning under unprecedented security arrangements. Fresh batches of yatris, including women and sadhus, left Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps for the holy Amarnath cave shrine, where so far about 2.57 lakh pilgrims had darshan since the commencement of the 40-day-long yatra from June 29. Weather is cloudy but the pilgrimage is going on smoothly from both traditional Pahalgam and shortest Baltal tracks, a yatra official told . He said fresh batches of pilgrims, though the number was very low, left base camps at Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam for the cave shrine early this morning. On the 34th day of the 40-day-long pilgrimage, which commenced from June 29, 819 yatris paid obeisance at the holy cave yesterday. More pilgrims are arriving at the cave shrine to pay obeisance since early this morning from Panjterni, where they had night halt on traditional track. About 100 yatris have paid obeisance so far since this morning. With this a total of about 2.57 yatris, including women and sadhus, from different parts of the country had darshan of the self made Ice-Shivlingam at the cave shrine so far. A fresh batch of yatris also left Baltal base camp for the cave shrine. The pilgrims are expected to reach the cave shrine, situated at 14,000 feet, in the afternoon after covering 14 km hilly terrain on foot. Srinagar, Aug 2 :  A 65-year-old yatri from Rajasthan died due to cardiac arrest on way to the holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas, a yatra official said. Somnath, a resident of Rajasthan, suffered a cardiac arrest at Brarimarg on shortest Baltal-cave track, he told . Somnath was immediately rushed to nearby medical camp where he was declared brought dead. About 45 pilgrims have so far died due to health problems, terror attack and accidents in the Kashmir valley since the commencement of the 40-day-long pilgrimage from both shortest Baltal and traditional Pahalgam tracks from June 29. The annual yatra will conclude on August 7 when Chhari Mubarak, holy silver Mace of Lord Shiva will taken inside the cave for concluding pujan on August 7. UNI

Srinagar, Aug 1 : All the Over Ground Workers (OGWs) involved in attack on Amarnath yatris on Srinagar-Jammu national highway in Anantnag that left eight pilgrims dead and over 20 others injured last month have been arrested, a senior police officer said.
We have arrested all the OGWs who provided support to militants who carried out the attack on the Gujarat bus on July 10 night, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Munir Ahmad Khan told reporters here this afternoon.
      In reply to a question Mr Khan said the OGWs are singing during the questioning. We have identified the militants responsible for the attack, the IGP said adding we are confident to get them (militants) soon.UNI

Srinagar, Aug 1: The main course of pilgrimage to Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas will commence tomorrow when the 'Chhari Mubarak', holy Silver Mace of Lord Shiva will leave Rameshwar temple at Dashmani Akhara near here for Pahalgam, where pujan will be held on 'Ekadashi' on Thursday before leaving for next halting station on traditional yatra track.
       According to Mahant Deependra Giri, custodian of Chhari Mubarak, the holy Mace will commence its journey to cave shrine for the main course of pilgrimage from Dashnami Akhara at 0800 hrs tomorrow.
      However, before the eruption of militancy in early 90s the Chhari Mubarak was taken in a procession from Dashnami Akhara shortly after sunset for a night halt at Durga Nag temple in Srinagar. Now the Chhari Mubarak is taken to Pahalgam on same day in a vehicle with halts at some places on way.
      He said n the way to Pahalgam tomorrow, Pujan shall be performed at Shri Durga-Nag Temple, Shri Sureshwar Temple Srinagar (Behind Hotel Shangrilla), Shiv Temple Pampore, Shiv Temple Bijbehara, ‘Martand-Tirth’ Mattan, Ganesh Temple across river Lidder, Ganeshbal and Gouri-Shankar Temple, Pahalgam.
      Mahant Giri said on August 3 “ Ekadashi”,  devotees will join Pujan and night halt at Pahalgam before leaving in the afternoon at 1400 hrs for Chandanwari on “ Dwadashi”  August 4.
       After night halt at Chandanwari the chhari will leave for Sheshnag at 0700 hrs for a night halt there onAugust 5 on “ tryodashi”, he said
       On “ Chaturdashi” on August 6, Chhari will leave from Sheshnag from 0700 hrs for a night halt at Panchtarni.
      He said on ‘Raksha Bandhan'  on August 7 'Sharavan Purnima' Chhari Mubarak will proceed for holy Cave for Punjan at 0700 hrs from Panchtarni.  Traditional rituals shall be performed & prayers shall be offered the whole day at holy cave. However, before dusk, Chhari-Mubarak shall leave for night halt at Panchtarani, he said adding from there charri will leave for night halt at Pahalgam at 0700 hrs on August 8.
      On August 9 ‘Dvitiya Pujan’ & ‘Visarjan’ ceremonies shall be performed at 0915 hrs on the bank of river Lidder at Pahalgam. Thereafter, traditional ‘Kari-Pakouri’ Bhandara shall be organized for Sadhus. With this last ritual, annual pilgrimage of Swami Amarnath Ji shall culminate. Chhari-Mubarak shall return to its Abode Rameshwar temple Desknami Akahtar at Srinagar. UNI

        Meanwhile, lowest 155 yatries, including 17 women and some sadhus, left Bagwati Nagar, Jammu, base camp for Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps in Kashmir early this morning under unprecedented security arrangements.
       Fresh batches of yatries, including women and sadhus, left Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps early this morning for the holy Amarnath cave shrine , where so far  about 2.56 lakh pilgrims had darshan since the commencement of the 40-day-long yatra from June 29.
        Weather is pleasant and pilgrimage is going on smoothly from both traditional Pahalgam and shortest Baltal tracks, a yatra official told .
        He said fresh batches of pilgrims, though the number was very low, left base camps at Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam for the cave shrine early this morning.
         On the 33rd day of the 40-day-long pilgrimage, which commenced from June 29, 1571 yatries paid obeisance at the holy cave yesterday.
        More pilgrims are arriving at the cave shrine to pay obeisance since early this morning from Panjterni, where they had night halt on traditional track.
        With this a total of about 2.56 yatris, including women and sadhus from different parts of the country had darshan of the self made Ice-Shivlingm at the cave shrine so far.

Meanwhile, a fresh batch of lowest 173 pilgrims in six vehicles left Bagwati Nagar, Jammu, base camp for Baltal and Nunwan Pahaglam base camps at 0300 hrs under very tight security arrangements. A yatra official told UNI that weather being pleasant today, the pilgrimage was going on smoothly from both traditional Pahalgam and shortest Baltal tracks. Srinagar, Jul 29 :  Amarnath pilgrimage is progressing smoothly as fresh batches of yatris today left base camps for the holy cave in south Kashmir Himalayas, where over 2.51 lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance so far. The weather is cloudy today and it rained in some areas on both the tracks. However, the yatra is going on smoothly, a yatra official told UNI. He said fresh batches of pilgrims, though the number was very low, left base camps at Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam early this morning. On the 30th day of the 40-day-long pilgrimage, which commenced on June 29, about 1,571 yatris visited the holy cave yesterday. He said 678 pilgrims, including women and sadhus, left Bagwati Nagar, Jammu base camp for Baltal and Nunwan Phalgam base camps early this morning under unprecedented security arrangements. He said yesterday on the 26th day of yatra, 4,014 Yatris yatris paid obeisance at the Holy Cave. With this, a total of over 2,44,263 lakh yatris had the darshan at the Holy Cave till this morning. Meanwhile, pilgrims, who had left Panjtarni after night halt, are paying obeisance since early this morning after covering two km distance on foot, he said. He said a fresh batch of yatris also left Baltal base camp to reach the cave shrine. The pilgrims are expected to reach the cave shrine, situated at 14,000 feet in the afternoon after covering 14 km hilly terrain on foot. Chanting 'bam bam bholay', the pilgrims, comprising 467 male, 146 females and 50 sadhus, left in a cavalcade of 24 vehicles early this morning.
