RAMBAN, MAY 25: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari took comprehensive review of major development projects and schemes of various departments here today. He convened a review meeting in this regard after visiting various places of the district.
District Development
Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz, ADDC Ravinder Sadhu, ADC Angrez Singh Rana, SSP
Mohan Lal, SSP Traffic, CPO Uttam Singh and various other sector officers and
concerned agencies were present there.
In the meeting the
Div Com reviewed the preparedness being made by the district administration for
forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. Threadbare discussion was held on various
issues of Yatra and necessary measures to be required for making it successful.
Instructions were
passed for proper maintenance and management of National Highway stretch from
Nashri to Banihal in such a way that transportation of vehicles especially
during yatra season does not face obstructions. He stressed for keeping ready
necessary men and machinery in order to deal with any exigency arising during
the course of Yatra. Jamming, congestion and other problems are to be dealt
with quickly, he said.
The Div Com
instructed all the officers to work in synergy and ensure all basic facilities
in the district on priority during the month of Ramzan and Yatra season. He
emphasized on early completion of pending works which are connected with
Amarnath Yatra.
Engineers were asked
to ensure the quality and time-bound completion of all ongoing developmental
projects in the district. He stressed for evolving clean and responsive
administration to work for welfare of general public.
Earlier, the Div Com along with
District Development Commissioner and other officers visited the proposed sites
of yatra camps and langers for ensuring smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji
Yatra. Various instructions were passed to district administration for putting
in place all requisite arrangements for pilgrims.
The Div Com also
visited the places where the construction companies were dumping muck and
extracted material. He passed instructions against such dumping beyond the
designated locations and following of all norms while undertaking construction
works.
Meanwhile civil
society members also met the Div Com and prominently
raised various issues including shortage of
doctors, other staff and infrastructure in District Hospital
(DH) Ramban, supply of portable drinking water in Ramban town besides overall
shortage in ration supply, essential services, proper road connectivity,
isolation of Batote after functioning of tunnel and local youth employment in
construction activities.
Div Com directed the
Executive Engineer PHE to ensure functioning of existing water filtration plant
at Ramban and completion of under- construction filtration plant within
stipulated time. He directed the EOs of
Municipalities to immediately make functional all the street lights
besides ensuring cleanliness and sanitation in their respective areas.
Meanwhile, District
Development Commissioner apprised the Div Com on the various initiatives taken
for speeding up the development process and providing prompt services to the
locals at their door steps. He said strict measures are taken against those who
do not work to the satisfaction of local people or hamper the service delivery
mechanism.
He also discussed disaster
preparedness plan in the meeting for which it was informed that a total of 13
shelter sheds have been set up besides taking other on-site action plans. The
main locations are Maitra, Banihal, Tethar, Nowgam, Main Bazar Ramban,
Chanderkote, Karol and Ramsoo.
