Ramban, August 4  :   Nazim Zai Khan today assumed the office as Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ramban. He replaced Showkat Aijaz Bhat who has been transferred as DC Kulgam. 

Various senior officers of the district administration welcomed the incumbent DC and assured their full cooperation for development of the district.

Soon after assuming the charge, the Deputy Commissioner held a meeting with ADC Dr. Basharat and other officers of district administration. The DC impressed upon them to adopt a coordinated approach to achieve goals set for development of the district, besides mitigating public issues on priority.

Ramban, July 06  :   District Development Commissioner (DDC), Ramban Showkat Aijaz Bhat today took a detail review of formulation of Revised District Capex Budget (DCB) 2019-20, here.

Additional District Development Commissioner Nawab Din, ADC Dr Basharat Hussain, ACD Zaffer Ahmed Banday, CPO Kasturi Lal, AD planning, XENs of PDD, PWD, CHO, CAO, Deputy CMO and various other officers attended the meeting.

DDC exhorted upon the concerned officers to prioritise works under revised DCB, so that ongoing works could be completed within the shortest possible time for public interest.

He reviewed the progress of languishing and ongoing road projects, buildings of Health department and various other development works besides plan of PWD, Health, School Education, PDD, PHE, Horticulture, Agriculture, and Animal and Sheep husbandry departments.

Bhat directed the officers of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry and other departments to take identified works especially plantation drives under convergence with Rural Development Department.

He asked the concerned department to ensure water supply connection and toilet unit in every school of the district. Xen PWD was directed to prepare DPR for the construction of SDM office and residence at Banihal.

The DDC also impressed upon the district officers to prepare the district capex budget strictly as per the directions given by the finance department.

Ramban, June 29  :   The Deputy Commissioner, Ramban has notified the schedule for vaccination of the selected pilgrims for Haj-2019 of the district.

According to the schedule, the pilgrims hailing from tehsil Ramban and Rajghar will be given vaccination at District Hospital Ramban, whereas the pilgrims from Tehsil Pogal Paristan will be given the vaccination at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Ukhral. Similarly the pilgrims from tehsil Gool will be vaccinated at Sub District Hospital, Gool and pilgrim from Tehsil Banihal and Khari will be vacationed at Emergency Hospital, Banihal on 4th July 2019.

All the pilgrims are informed to attend the vaccination program on the scheduled date at the above-said venues.

Ramban, February 18: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Ramban, Showkat Aijaz Bhat today   conducted a public grievances redressal camp at Ramban to listen to the grievances and problems of people.

ACD, G. H. Kiraipak, DPO Tariq Saurawardy, Xen PHE, Bashir Ahmed, CPO, Uttam Singh, besides PRIs and large number of people  were present on the occasion.
         
 Deputations comprising Sarpanchs, Panchs and several individuals from various panchyats called on the DDC and apprised him about their grievances besides raising several developmental issues.

People from Kanga, Tanger and Parnote raised issues of restoration of water, power supply, construction of houses under PMAY-G, sanctioning of electric poles, transformers, construction of toilet complexes, inclusion of left out people  in PMAY-G beneficiaries  list, construction of link roads and land compensation etc.
   
Giving patient hearing to the deputations, the DDC redressed number of issues on the spot and directed the concerned   to resolve the public issues immediately.

The DDC directed the XEN, PHE to conduct a survey of Kanga, Tanger area for   assessment of damages and preparation of DPRs for restoring water supply schemes. He also directed the ACD to incorporate the genuine cases in the PMAY-G list.

Banihal/Jammu, Oct 10 (PTI) A BJP candidate died of heart attack Wednesday when he was about to cast his vote in the second phase of the municipal elections in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said. 

Azad Singh Raju, 62, a former employee of the Irrigation and Flood Control Department, died at a local polling station before casting his vote, they said. 

He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. 

Raju was among 24 candidates in the fray for the seven municipal bodies of Ramban district. 

The second phase of the polling is in progress at 263 municipal wards spread across Jammu and Kashmir, including 214 wards, in six districts of Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban, Reasi, Udhampur and Kathua in Jammu region. 

The polling started at 6 am and will end at 4 pm. 

During the first two hours of the polling, the officials said Kathua district is leading the voter turnout chart with 17.2 per cent of 54,622 electorates exercising their democratic right. 

It is followed by Reasi district which recorded a voter turnout of 16.6 per cent (10204 voters) followed by Kishtwar (15.3 per cent of 8830 voters), Doda (12.6 per cent of 13396 voters), Ramban (12.4 per cent of 5533 voters) and Udhampur (10.3 per cent of 35519 voters) till 8 am, the officials said. 

Authorities have made elaborate security arrangements to ensure peaceful polling which will seal the fate of 1,029 candidates. 

A total of 544 polling stations, including 274 in Jammu and 270 in Kashmir, have been set up and are being guarded by police and paramilitary forces. 

"The polling in Jammu region is going on smoothly and there was no untoward poll-related violence reported from anywhere," the officials said. 

The first phase of the polling was held on October 8 after a gap of 13 years and registered a voter turnout of 56.6 per cent. 

The third phase of the polling is scheduled for October 13 followed by fourth and final phase on October 16. The counting of votes will be held on October 20.

RAMBAN, SEPTEMBER 20: As part of the “Khelo India” initiative, the District Administration Ramban today organized “BatiBazi” competition, a famous cultural activity of State in Gojri, Pahari and Pogli languages, under ‘Talent Hunt’ drive at GHSS, Ukhral of Sub-Division, Ramsoo.
Sub Divisional Magistrate, Ramsoo, ViqarGiri was the Chief Guest on the occasion while TehsildarPogal- Paristan, Rahul Bhasotra and Principal of host school, Zara Singh were the Guests of Honours whereas staff members of participating schools besides large numbers of locals and students were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the SDM informed that the Khelo India programme has been launched with an objective to involve youth in sports, cultural and other educative activities to channelize their energy in right direction and imbibe leadership qualities, team spirit and discipline among them. He further said that a calendar of activities for all education zones under the programme has already been formulated by CEO Ramban.
Around 10 High Schools of Ukhral zone including Alinbass, Tulihal, Gurwati, Dardahie, Maligam, Senabhati, Kharwan, Pogal, Paristan and Batroo besides MGHSS, Ukhral participated in the programme. Outstanding participants were awarded with the prizes by the dignitaries.

RAMBAN SEPTEMBER 18: District Information Centre Ramban today organized debate and panting competitions on “Swachh Bharat Abhyan” here at Bhartiya Vidya Mandir High School.
          Principal of the host school Pardeep Singh Thakur was the chief guest on the occasion.
Pernita Puri was adjudged overall best while Rajveer Singh and Mehran Mushtaq clinched 2nd and 3rd position in the debate competition.
 As many as, 8 students from host school drawn from different classes participated in the Debate competition and expressed their valuable views on the topic.
       Appreciating the role of Information Department, the chief guest, emphasised on the need of cleanliness and green environment for enjoying healthy life and to save life on the earth. 
     Principal also impressed upon the students to take part in extra curricular activities for their overall development. He exhorted upon the students to adopt the cleanliness culture in their day to day life and keep focus on personal and community hygiene.
       A colourful cultural programme was also presented by the artists and students. 
Later, certificates and trophies were given away to the best performers.

RAMBAN, SEPTEMBER 17: Labour Department today organized awareness camps at various construction sites here in Gool area to make the labourers aware about the labour laws and various welfare schemes of Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB) meant for them.
While interacting with the construction workers Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC), Rakesh Arora stressed upon them to avail maximum benefits from the government schemes meant for the welfare of their families.  He also highlighted other schemes being executed by the Department.
He said that the Labour Department and JKBOCWWB are working in tandem for the development and welfare of the labour class.
 He further said that the labour class is the backbone for development and government is prioritizing their welfare.
He informed that for the education of wards of workers an assistance of Rs 2500 to Rs 10000 is being provided for lower education, Rs 15000 for post-graduation, Rs 30000 for diploma courses and Rs 50000 for professional courses.
He advised the workers to get themselves registered to avail the maximum benefits of the schemes of the board. The Department also provides assistance of Rs 1 lakh to the registered construction workers suffering from chronic diseases, he added.

RAMBAN, SEPTEMBER 17: District Election Officer (DEO) Ramban, Showkat Aijaz Bhat today reviewed the preparedness for Urban Local Bodies (Municipal and Panchayat Elections) 2018 here at a meeting of civil and police   officers.
The meeting discussed in detail the requirement of manpower, randomization, communication plan, expenditure monitoring committee, material management and transport plan besides security arrangements, law and order issues, enforcement of modal code of conduct, duty of zonal and sectoral magistrates and observers.
The DEO said all the officers and employees deem themselves attached to the Election Commission and ensure timely response of any information. 
The Nodal Officers of various committees were directed to   work according to the directions issued by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to ensure smooth and fair conduct of elections
The DEO directed the ROs to inspect polling stations to ensure all necessary arrangements including special arrangement for the convenience specially abled voters. He also informed that the administration will arrange webcasting of polling.
The SSP gave details about security plan envisaged for incident free election process.
The DEO also stressed on spreading awareness among the voters.
Meanwhile, a training programme for Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) was conducted in which District Level Master Trainers imparted necessary tips to ROs and AROs.

Reviews power scenario in Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar
RAMBAN, SEPTEMBER, 14: Commissioner/Secretary, Power Development Department, Hirdesh Kumar, today visited Sawalakot and inspected pre-project works besides reviewing the progress of Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar districts under various Centrally Sponsored schemes of Power sector.
During the visit, Kumar inspected various ongoing related works and instructed the executing agencies to expedite the pre-project works for developing suitable environment for construction of prestigious Sawalakot Hydel Project.
While responding to issues and bottlenecks put forth by the officers of JKSPDC, Kumar gave on spot directions for resolving the same and informed that a high-level committee will be framed to resolve the bottlenecks soon.
He also reviewed the progress of shifting of HT Towers which are in danger or have come under the alignment of four-lane project and other utilities including their reinstallation. He directed the officers of NHAI to take up the shifting work of tower in time to avoid any power breakdown and untoward incident besides ensuring immediate protection of vulnerable towers. 
Kumar further took a comprehensive review of schemes viz SAUBHAGYA, UJALA, PMDP, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana and directed the concerned for achieving 100% target of electrification of all households under SAUBHAGYA by the month of November.
He said that various innovative provisions will be taken for covering the hilly and far flung areas of district Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar.
Taking strong note of instances where in a single house, many families residing as separate households avail electricity from a single registered connection and at the same time avail subsidized ration from FCS&CA stores with the help of individual ration Cards, Kumar instructed for correcting such anomalies so that every household is registered with the department for availing benefits under various Central and State sponsored schemes.
The XEns were directed to increase their efforts to complete the process of crosschecking the beneficiaries availing electricity with ground reality so that unauthorized connections could be identified.
Meanwhile, District Development Commissioner, Ramban, Showkat Aijaz Bhat informed the chair about the status of critical receiving stations and proposed their augmentation. Commissioner/Secretary said that all measures will be taken for augmenting the capacity of these receiving stations for uninterrupted power supply to the people of the district.
            The DDC assured full cooperation and coordination to PDD for regularizing unauthorized connections and for uploading the updated details of beneficiaries on the concerned portal. Special Gram Sabhas are being held for identification of beneficiaries and generation of awareness, he added.

RAMBAN, SEPTEMBER 13:  One day Seminar on the topic “Moral education is the need of an hour”, organized by the Education Department, was held at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Sangaldan under “Khelo-India” programme.
Sub Divisional Magistrate, Gool, Pankaj Bagotra was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Tehsildar, Gool, Mohammad Ashrif was the Guest of Honour whereas Principal of host school, Gulzar Begum presented the vote of thanks.
Around 35 students from 16 school of Gool Sub Division were participated in the seminar and highlighted the importance of moral education.
Dikesha Devi, a student of GMS Sangaldan, clinched the first position whereas Asia Anjum of HS Dalwaha secured 2nd spot while Monika Devi and Misbha-tun-Nissa of GHSS Sangaldan jointly secured the 3rd position.
Winners and participants were awarded with the prizes by the dignitaries.
Lecturers, Mukhtyar Ahmed and Akhter Hussain of GHSS Sangaldan and Headmaster GMS Sangaldan, Ramesh Singh   were acted as Judge during the seminar while Mohd Ashraf Bali hosted the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the SDM appreciated the participants for stressing on the significance of moral education and said that education system without inclusion of moral values is a system which is incomplete in itself. The most important crux of the education system is the ethics and it is must that these ethics are propagated among the upcoming generations, he added.

RAMBAN, SEPTEMBER 11: District Administration Ramban today launched “Talent Hunt” drive to encourage youth to participate in cultural and extra-Curricular activities under “Khelo India” initiative – Sports for Peace and Development.
The drive began with a debate competition on the topic “Advantage and Disadvantages of social Media” here at Govt Higher Secondary School 
Sandesh Singh student of GHSS Ramban was adjudged overall best, while Rajni Chib and Anam - students of Model, HSS secured 2nd and 3rd position respectively. 
As many as 15 students of different schools including GHS, Parnot, Model HSS Ramban, GGHS, Ramban, GHS, Salli, ParyasHemkish Model High School, Ramban and GHS,Dhandrath took part in the debate competition. Meanwhile, a cultural programme was also presented by the participants.
Chief Education Officer A H Fani, was the chief guest while DYSSO, Sukhdev Raj Sharma and Principal GHSS, Gool, Nana Ji Tiku were the guests of honour. 
Speaking on the occasion, the CEO informed that the Khelo India programme has been launched with an objective to promote sports among youth   and imbibe leadership qualities, team spirit and discipline among them.
The CEO directed all the heads of education institutions to redouble their efforts to involve   youth in sports as well as extracurricular activities. 
  He said the ongoing ‘talent hunt’ drive will witness   competitions in Debate, Symposium, Seminar, Panting, Essay writing, Mushaira and cultural programme at District   and other Zone levels.

RAMBAN, SEPTEMBER 08: A free AYUSH medical check-up, aid and awareness camp under school Health programme was today held here at village Gandhri.
The camp was organized by Department of Indian System of Medicine “Ayush’ Ramban. The facilities of gynaecology, skin, geriatric and general medicine was made available in the camp.
Around 450 people were treated at the camp and free medicines were also distributed among the patients.
 Earlier, the camp was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Dr GurvinderJeet Singh  in presence of District Nodal Officer ISM,   Dr. Shashi Kant Sharma, BDO, Firoz Ahmed, Naib Tehsildar, Abdul Majeed,  Dr. Ashwani, Dr. Kuljeet, Dr. Bashir, Dr. Rajesh, Para-medical staff and locals.
Interacting with people the   ADC assured them that their demand of posting of doctor in Ayush dispensary would be taken up with concerned.
On the occasion a deputation of Niabat Gandheri met the ADC and apprised him of their grievances  and sought their early redressal. 
The People sought up-grading of Kanga Bathni road, maintenance of power supply distribution system in all Panchyats of Gandheri, shortage of staff in health and educational intuitions, organising of awareness camps of Agriculture, Horticulture and other allied departments,   exposure tours for farmers of area,   road projects, development of Bathbi to Raja ShankPal area as tourist circuit, posting of ambulance driver, water supply connection for schools.
 He assured the delegations that issues will be forwarded to the concerned departments for their timely redress.
Meanwhile, the ADC reviewed the functioning of RDD, FCS&CA, PHE, Animal and Sheep husbandry departments.

RAMBAN, SEPTEMBER 08: Director Horticulture Jammu Anuradha Gupta interacted with a group of local Orchardists who returned here after 7-day exposure visit to National research Centre for Pomegranate (NRCP) Solapur Maharashtra and NRCG, Pune (Maharashtra).
 It is one of the premier Institutes of ICAR exclusively working on the latest techniques on the cultivation of Anaradana and Grapes and its various value-added products.
The orchardists share their experience with the Director about the ongoing practices and latest interventions in the field of Anardana cultivation. The Director asked the farmers to utilize the intervention, techniques and exposure gained from such visit in their respective areas and become ambassadors /role models for other farmers in their District. 
Anardana has vast potential of cultivation in Ramban District and it is one of the premier crops of Jammu and Kashmir, which is in great demand in the nearby States and provide high returns to the growers.   
 The department of Horticulture Jammu is focusing on crop specific villages keeping in view the Agro climatic condition of the particular area and accordingly villages of Ramban District has been taken during the current year for Anardana cultivation.
A total twelve progressive Orchardists/ farmers were sent for the exposure visit accompanied by Horticulture Development officer   Mohammad Nazran Khan. The programme was organized by Chief horticulture Officer Ramban   Mukesh Kumar Sharma under the scheme Capex.
The Farmers lauded the role of the department and sought to have more such exposure visit. The others present on the occasion were S. Tarvinder Singh Joint Director Horticulture Jammu who too shares his experiences on the cultivation of Anardana and its various medicinal properties with the farmers.

RAMBAN, SEPTEMBER 07: To promote sports culture amongst the youth, a tournament was today inaugurated here at Gool under Khelo India “Sports for Peace and Development" an integrated youth engagement programme of Government of India.
District Development Commissioner (DDC), Showkat Aijaz Bhat declared the event open which witnessed     Under 17 Boys Volleyball and under 14 Girls Kho Kho competitions at the local Government Higher Secondary School (GHHS) Gool.
Also present were SSP Ramban Anita Sharma, ACR Vevaik Puri, SDM Gool Pankaj Bagotra, CEO, A.H Fani, DYSSO, Sukhdev Raj Sharma, ALC Ramban Rakesh Arora, Tehsildar Gool, Principal of the host school.   
In Volley ball match Gool A team won by defeating Gool B team, while in Kho Kho competition Girls High School Gool team won by defeating Girls Higher secondary team by 4 points.
Earlier, addressing the participants, the DDC applauded the students for their efforts and encouraged them to make the best use of such platform to display their sports talent. He laid emphasis on the importance of games and sports for their overall development. He advised the youth to take active part in the sports and create a niche at State and national levels.
He said that the Khelo India scheme has been launched with the objective to channelize the energy of the youth in right direction, imbibe in them leadership qualities and team spirit so that they can contribute in economic and social development of the country.
He assured the participants that district administration will arrange resources for creating better sports facilities in the schools. He   announced to provide table tennis for GHHS Gool.

RAMBAN, SEPTEMBER 06: District Development Commissioner, Ramban, Showkat Aijaz Bhat, today launched sports activities across the district by declaring open a marathon sports tournament at GHSS Ramban as part of the “Khelo India” initiative - Sports for Peace and Development.
SSP Ramban Anita Sharma, ASP, Sanjay Parihar, ACD GH Kripak, CEO, A H Fani, DYSSO, Sukhdev Raj Sharma, LDM Ramban besides concerned officers of Health and Information department and other departments were present on the occasion.
 Panchyat Parnote team won the Volley Ball match by defeating Maitra A team in an inaugural match.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC informed that the Khelo India programme has been launched with an objective to involve youth in sports activities to channelize their energy in right direction and imbibe leadership qualities, team spirit and discipline among them.
The DDC further informed that the outstanding performers in sports and cultural events will be felicitated on the concluded day i.e October 31, 2018, while district administration will also facilitate the local players to participate at state and national level competitions. He said the opening tournament will witness separate competitions for Boys and Girls in Football, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Athletics and Rural Sport Wrestling besides other games at District Head Quarter and other Zones.
The DDC directed the DYSSO to provide all facilities to participants during the sports events and district officers were directed to go for wide publicity of the event to attract the maximum participation of the youth.

Banihal/Jammu, Sep 6: Eleven people including two women were injured when a vehicle rolled down into gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban district Thursday, police said.

A Tata Sumo, on its way to Banihal from Mangith, skid off the road and rolled down into a gorge in Khari area, they said.

Eleven people including two women were injured and were hospitalised, they said adding that four injured were referred to a hospital in Srinagar. (PTI)

RAMBAN SEPTEMBER 05:  One day training programme was organized today for Returning Officers (ROs), Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) Nodal Officers/Zonal and Sector Magistrates to update them about the forthcoming Municipal Elections (ME).
The training was held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Ramban, Showkat Aijaz Bhat who is also the District Election Officer (DEO).
District Level Master Trainers ACR Ramban Vevaik Puri and SDM Ramsoo Viqar Giri besides Master Trainers sensitized the participants about Model Code of Conduct, Nomination Process, Scrutiny of Nomination forms, withdrawal of candidature and Allotment of Symbols.
Meanwhile, the DEO called upon the concerned officers to stay prepared well before the polls. He asked the officers to perform their duties with utmost dedication and strictly adhere to the guidelines of ECI for smooth conduct of Municipals polls.
  A power point presentation was given regarding scrutiny, filling up of nominations, rejection of nominations, qualification of nominations and completion of polling process till the conclusion of the declaration of the results.
Election Naib Tehsidar Hasham Din besides all ROs and AROs participated in the training progrmme.

RAMBAN, SEPTEMBER 05:   Deputy Inspector General of Police    Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range, Rafiq-ul-Hasan along with Deputy Commissioner, Showkat Aijaz Bhat and SSP, Anita Sharma flagged off a group of students from Ramban for Bharat Darshan tour from DPL Ramban.
The tour is being organized by District Police under Civic Action Programme (CAP).
The group of 50 students across the district is participating in the tour under the supervision of police officers of District police Ramban. All the students were provided track suits, shoes, T- shirt, bag, cap diary and pen.
Speaking on the occasion, DIG, DKR range emphasized that the students should take best of this tour as only few gets chance of this kind of tour. He further said that this tour will provide them new experiences and vast exposure to visiting places that would be really helpful for them in their studies. It will also be an educational tour for them, he added.
SSP Ramban, while speaking on the occasion enlightened with the salient features of the six days tour programme which will include by road journey to Jammu and visit to historical places there. She further informed that the students will continue their onward journey to Delhi by Air and will visit to places of historical monuments, malls, stadiums, Parliament House, metro stations, reputed educational institutions. Besides this, they will also meet with the dignitaries.

RAMBAN, SEPTEMBER 05: District Development Commissioner Ramban, Showkat Aijaz Bhat convened a meeting to review the physical and financial achievements registered under CSS, flagship programmes and District Capex Budget 2018-19 of Rural Development Department held here today at Maitra.
            ADC, Dr. Gurvinderjeet Singh, ACD Ramban, G H Kripak, DPO, Tariq Suhrawardy, BDOs, BLWs besides other field functionaries of RDD were present in the meeting.
            During the meeting, the DDC reviewed Panchayat wise progress of physical verification and Geo-Tagging under ODF and directed the field functionaries to complete the process within stipulated time frame. 
            He directed the BDOs to ensure registration of beneficiaries under PMAY-G so that deserving beneficiaries would get benefit under the scheme.
            DDC stressed upon the functionaries to raise awareness among the masses about RDD programmes for its effective implementation on ground. He further asked the officers to involve women folk under various schemes so that the benefits of the same could percolate to them.
ACD briefed the DDC about the physical and financial achievements under MGNREGA.
The DDC asked the BDOs to generate maximum man days under MGNREGA for providing livelihood to job seekers.
              Regarding “Swachh Bharat Mission” the DDC directed the officers to hold awareness camps and programmes on regular intervals in coordination with other departments to aware the people about importance of sanitation and cleanliness.
